It’s hard to believe we’re coming to the end of another busy school term. My position as relieving principal has been extended into Term 3 and I feel very grateful to continue in this role at GSPS. Reflecting on the semester that has been, I am so proud of all the students and their concerted effort in being exceptional role models for each other and making responsible choices, upholding our values of being respectful, responsible and safe. They have worked hard in classrooms and their teachers have gone above and beyond with planning and preparing lessons with their students’ needs in mind. The Semester 1 reports have been finalised and were sent out this afternoon.
Industrial Action
Thank you again to our community for making alternate arrangements for your child/ren tomorrow as GSPS will be non operational. This means that we are unable to provide any supervision and there will be no teaching staff on-site. School will resume as normal for Friday.
Sentral Parent Portal Years 5 and 6
If you have a child in years 5 or 6 you should have received a letter and phone call regarding the importance of downloading the app for communication. If you would like a spare note, or any assistance with the process please reach out to the office.
Staff changes Semester 2
As previously mentioned, Mrs Harrison will begin her leave from the start of next term and Mrs Manning will fulfill the classroom teacher role for 2/3H. Mrs Ratcliff will be the Relieving Assistant Principal for K-2 and Miss Gay will be the Relieving Assistant Principal for 3-6 for Semester 2.
Save the date - Education Week
On Tuesday 2 August in celebration of Education Week we will be opening the school for open classroom visits from 2.20-3.30pm. Guests will be invited to visit their child/rens room and can visit different parts of the school with a ‘choice mat’ provided for students to keep you busy on your visit! Students will be delighted to share some of their work both in the classroom and around the school for the afternoon.
NCCD
The Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability (NCCD) takes place every year. The NCCD is a collection that counts:
• the number of school students receiving an adjustment or 'help' due to disability
• the level of adjustment they are receiving to access education on the same basis as other students.
Students are counted in the NCCD if they receive ongoing adjustments at school due to disability. This 'help' allows them to access education on the same basis as a child without disability. The NCCD uses the definition of disability in the Disability Discrimination Act 1992. Schools provide this information to education authorities. If you DO NOT want your child to be included please contact your child’s teacher.
