Dear parents,
Normally I would report on all the fantastic things that happened in the previous few weeks however, I would like to look forward to term 2 and the rest of the year.
I recently got back from a couple of weeks of long service leave. I feel refreshed and excited about the rest of the year but that wasn’t the case at the end of term one. Like all of you I was exhausted from the constant battering that covid was having on us. Funnily enough the students seemed the least affected however, the effect on the school was that the culture and relationships that we have come to accept as the norm at Rawlinson Primary School were being eroded.
We strive to explicitly teach Respect, Responsibility and Readiness under the motto of Learning for Life. It is when we are under pressure from different sources that these three aspects of our culture are tested and we are required to demonstrate patience, we need to listen and above all try to understand the point of view we are struggling against.
My objective this term and for the remainder of the year is to rebuild the fantastic culture that we had through Patience, Listening and Understanding.
I need your help with this.
I need the P&C and School Council and the families of Rawlinson Primary to support me by modelling this behaviour and demonstrating that, as an organisation, we are more like a family.
We can start this process by smiling, speaking to each other as we pass and letting each other know that we are valued.
Onto the details.
Our Strategic Plan for the next three years is complete. This plan is available for all parents to see both as a soft copy on our new website and as a hard copy in the office.
- Last week our new website went live. I am sure that it is not perfect despite the hours of effort put into making as close to perfect as possible by Mr Ayres and Mrs Johnson. Check it out and please make comments as to what you like and what could be improved.
- The P&C, last year, approved the funding of a new electronic sign at the front of the school. We have at last got all the approvals and had the build signed off by the Department of Education. I am told that it is approximately 4 weeks from installation. This will add to our ability to communicate information to parents and the wider community.
- Our new Science, STEM room is well on its way and hopefully will be completed by the end of this month. When this happens we will be moving Ms Sue into this room.
Thanks everyone and I would like to reiterate our objective this term is to reignite the culture and relationships that we know are the ones that will create success for our students.
