St Mary's Bulletin

Term 4 - Week 5 (15 November, 2019)

From the Principal

Dear St Mary's School Community

First Reconciliation

Please keep Archie Gethin, Rebecca Mullins, Thomas Kraske-Beck and Skye Wilson in your prayers as they will be receiving their First Reconciliation prior to the 10.30am Mass on Sunday.  Thank you to Fr Andrew, Miss Walsh and Mrs Herbert for preparing and supporting the children and their families.

Grandparents Morning Tea

It was an honour to welcome Grandparents (and great grandparents) to our school this morning.  The grandparents enjoyed visiting the classrooms and coming together for morning.  A big thank you to our students who read the "Grandparents" poem at assembly, to all the staff who contributed to the morning tea and to Mrs Riethmuller who coordinated the morning.

Year One Assembly

Thank you to Miss Dotsyak and the Year One class for their wonderful assembly on "The Circus' this morning.  The children read beautifully and also executed their circus roles so well!  Today's assembly was our last performance assembly for the year.  Our next assembly on Friday, 13 December will be our "Thank You" and farewell assembly.

Remembrance Day

The Special Events Ministry led the school community in a reverent and reflective Remembrance Day Service on Monday.  They spoke of the heroic actions of the soldiers in World War One and how we can be heroes in our words and actions.  Thank you to Mrs Riethmuller who organised the service and to those parents and grandparents who were able to attend.

NQS Audit

The auditors were impressed with the practices, procedures and processes in place in the Early Years when they came to visit on Tuesday.  I look forward to receiving the final report – which I am sure will be very positive.

Seniors Lunch

Thank you to our Year Three and Year Four students and their teachers Miss Walsh and Miss Montgomery who performed some ABBA songs at the Seniors Lunch at the Cummins Theatre on Tuesday.

Swimming Lessons (PP-2)

Our Pre-primary to Year Two students begin Swimming Lessons on Monday for two weeks.  Hopefully the hot weather predicted for the first day will stay for the two weeks!

School Concert

A reminder to all families to book tickets for the School Concert on Wednesday, 4 December.  If you have children in both halves (Kindy to Year Two) and (Year Three to Year Six) you will need to book tickets for both halves – one ticket will not give you entry to both halves of the Concert.

The link for booking tickets is:  Trybooking - School Concert

Farewell

Today we farewell Mrs Natasha Hardy who today completes the second half of her teaching practice in our school.  We wish Natasha all the very best for her future career in teaching.

CPPA AGM and Leaders Thanksgiving Mass

I will be in Perth on Thursday, 21 and Friday, 22 November attending Professional Development, the CPPA AGM and the System Leaders Thanksgiving Mass.  Mrs Riethmuller will be responsible for the school in my absence.

God Bless and have a lovely weekend with your families.

Let us Pray

Grandparents

Grandparents are special people

with wisdom and pride.

They are always there to guide.

They often make you feel

so confident and strong.

Their arms are always open

no matter what you did wrong.

They try to help out

in every way that they can.

They love all their grandchildren

the same whether you're a child, woman or man.

They are always there to listen

and to lend a helping hand.

They show your respect

and they try to understand.

They give their love, devotion and so much more,

that's easy to see.

Grandparents,

what perfect examples

of the kind of person that we should be.
