Principal's report

Dear parents/carers

After a hectic but successful year, I am sure we are all looking forward to a simple, relaxing break. 2019 has been an incredible year for Marsden Road Public School. For the first time in eleven years, our year 5 students have matched our year 3 NAPLAN proficiency achievement. Our students' overall Reading and Writing skills have improved and we continue to work towards our goal of achieving proficiency. We are a school that sets high standards and expectations and are  focused on achieving our targets.

I would like to take the opportunity to thank each and every staff member of our school for his or her contribution throughout the year: our office staff for being the face of the school and ensuring that our community gets the best customer service; our Student Learning Support Officers, who quietly go about doing their job without a fuss; our general assistant and community hub coordinator, who each have done their bit for betterment of the school, and finally our teachers who work everyday with your children to ensure that they get a quality education that will set them for all future learning.

I would also like to thank the community for supporting the school.  I thank those parents who are able to attend the various school events. I also thank those parents who because of their work or personal commitments are not always able to attend these special events, but yet support us by ensuring that their child comes to school everyday, on time, in full school uniform, ready to learn.

It is now time to unwind. Summer holidays with family and friends is a great time to reflect on what really matters. Our world is too complex and too fast paced and at times, we get carried away and get caught up in the chase. Downtime with near and dear ones is one way to slow down the pace and enjoy simple things such as a stroll in the park, a swim at the beach or having BBQ with friends. Whatever you do, please be safe, have fun and enjoy the precious moments. Have a  very Merry Christmas and a very happy New Year

Regards

Deputy Principals' Report

What a wonderful year 2019 has been, it has been our pleasure to be your deputy principals this year. We want to wish all of you a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year and hope that your holidays are restful and fun! Just remember to take care of yourselves and each other. Students, remember to always be aware of your safety, don’t talk to strangers, look before you cross the road and try not to come back with plaster on a broken bone or crutches! Parents, take time to relax and enjoy the little things! Next year is, once again, an exciting year full of learning and lots of interesting extra-curricular activities, so get your rest now, we want to see you all bright eyed and ready for the new year.

Presentation Day

Year 6 Farewell

NSW Schoolboys and Schoolgirls tournament 2019

On the 28th to 29th of November 2019, Dusan Sormaz competed in the NSW Schoolboys and Schoolgirls tournament held at Pennant Hills Tennis Centre. He represented Marsden Road Public School in the Year 3 and Year 5 divisions. In the Year 3 singles, Dusan fought a very tough match and ended up becoming the runner up with a match result of 6-2, 3-6 and a tiebreaker of 10-5. Although, he did not win the Year 3 singles, this can be seen as a remarkable accomplishment as Dusan was able to single handily beat 48 other students that were representing various schools throughout NSW to claim the top spot of second place. He also competed in the Year 3 doubles event and won with a score of 6-0 and 6-1. In the Year 5 division, Dusan won all his matches, but due to timing conflicts between the Year 3 and Year 5 matches, he had to withdraw.

Congratulations Dusan on your sporting achievement! We are proud to have had you represent Marsden Road Public School at the tournament.
