UNIFORMS

Balmain Public School children are expected to wear full school uniform, including a school hat, every day. All children are required to wear full school uniform when representing the school on excursions, at sporting events or at cultural activities.

HAVE YOU ENROLLED YOUR SIBLING YET?

From the Principal's Desk...

Congratulations, Owen! We are so proud of you!

Owen recently competed at the School Sport Australia Track & Field National Championships in Brisbane, Queensland. Owen came 4th in his 12 Years Boys 200m heat, just missing out on the finals, however, ranked 10th overall! He also raced in the Medley Relay and their team clinched a silver medal! Owen met a lot of boys and became good friends with some of them. It was good for him to meet them, learning that they were just as nervous as him. On the last day, they participated in some friendly games and had lots of fun.

Although the school pushes out notifications via the app and email, there may be times when an important message may be missed as emails may sometimes not be checked regularly.

If there were to be an emergency, (hopefully not), information would be pushed out via SkoolBag.

Spotlight on...

5/6 KOI!!!!!

This week, BPS travelled to a time where there was no internet…5/6K took the opportunity to use different ways of researching, by interviewing staff, collecting data and using that data to inform their answers!

We investigated how research has changed over the years, thinking about the role the internet plays in the accessibility and relevancy of information.

“We went around to classrooms and we asked teachers about what the internet was like when they were in Year 6. We then did graphs of what we found out from the teachers that we went to. Then we responded to the statement “the internet has decreased students’ ability to research” whether we agreed or disagreed and then we wrote about our opinion and presented it to the class. When the teachers were in year 6, most of them used encyclopaedias and they went to the library, before or after school and now with us, we can just go on a laptop or our phone or iPad or any technology and it’s a lot easier.” ⁃ Jess R
