This is the last bulletin before the winter break begins on Friday. It has been an extremely busy yet productive term. Our students have been working hard on all manner of things and have achieved some amazing results. I am extremely proud of the progress made by all our students. I know that all staff have been very happy with the learning undertaken by students at our school. I hope that everyone has a relaxing and enjoyable holiday and I look forward to seeing everyone back safe and sound next term.
Special Visitors
Last week our school was privileged to host a visit from Julie Kennedy, Relieving Executive Director, Regional North and West, School Performance Directorate and Rick Clissold Director, Educational Leadership, Taree Network | Regional North and West School Performance Directorate. Both our guests had a tour of the facilities and joined some of our mathematics classes for engaging lessons which tested everyone’s problem solving abilities. It was great to showcase the wonderful teaching and learning that is happening at our school.
Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability
Our school is participating in the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability (Data Collection). This Data Collection is taking place in government, Catholic and Independent schools across Australia, and will provide valuable information about supports required for a broad group of students. This will enable Australian and State governments to better target support and resources in schools. This in turn will help schools give students with disability the support they need.
The Data Collection is not limited to students with diagnosed disabilities. It uses a very broad definition of disability, taken from the Disability Discrimination Act 1992 and the Disability Standards for Education 2005, which describe a broad range of health and learning conditions for which schools are required to provide ‘reasonable adjustments’ to support students to participate on the same basis as other students. The data collection will occur at the beginning of Term 3. A parent note will be sent home to those students who will be included in the collection.
Industrial Action
The NSW Teachers Federation has directed its members to participate in state-wide industrial action in the form of a 24-hour strike on Thursday 30th June 2022.
As a result of this strike, our school will be non-operational on this date and no student supervision will be available. This means you will need to make alternative care arrangements on this day for your student/s. To support learning from home, resources can be accessed on the department’s website.
Student reports will be sent home today. These reports give parents a snapshot of the students academic and social progress throughout Semester 1. To help parents gain an understanding of the A-E reporting scale we have included an analogy of what the grades mean for your children. If you have any queries about your child’s report please make an appointment to speak to the class teacher.
