Dear parents/carers
COVID requirements
If you need to self-isolate or your child/ren tests positive for COVID-19 please advise the school so that we can mark attendance accordingly. If students are well enough, they can work flexibility through the Departments online learning website pasted below.
https://education.nsw.gov.au/teaching-and-learning/learning-from-home/learning-at-home/2022-digital-learning-packs/primary
Students can upload samples of their work to teachers via seesaw. Please don’t hesitate to contact the office when required. If you need any more RAT tests please phone the office to organise them to be sent home.
On Monday evening the Minister signed the Public Health Order Amendment (No 1) Order 2022. The amendment (COVID-19 Self-Isolation) Order exempts a person who is a close or household contact from the requirement to self-isolate if the person has had COVID-19 in the previous 12 weeks (up from the previous 8 weeks).
This means that if a student or staff member who has recovered from COVID-19 comes into contact with someone with COVID-19 within 12 weeks after they are released, they will generally not need to self-isolate or get a test. They can continue to go to school or work unless they have new COVID-19 symptoms.
Easter Hat Parade and donations
We will be holding our Easter Hat Parade on the last day of Term 1, Friday 8th April 2022. The parade will be held under the COLA commencing at 11:30. Families are invited to bring along a picnic lunch to share with their students at the end of the parade.
Students are asked to create their Easter hats at home, bringing them along on the day to wear. (A safe place will be provided in each classroom for hat storage on the day.) Students can wear suitable casual clothing and footwear for the day.
Classes have been having a little competition for who has the most Easter donations. Please remember to return any unsold raffle tickets to the school.
School holiday break
As this will be the final newsletter of the term, I would sincerely like to thank the students, staff and community for welcoming me so warmly into my first term here at GSPS. The students have been respectful, responsible and resilient. They have been working hard in classrooms and I am especially proud of our new leadership team.
The staff here at GSPS have been flexible and adaptable with the constant changes that occurred over the term due to the isolation requirements and at times, lack of staff. Our front office team and SLSO's have been an asset to our operation and I thank them for going above and beyond to help our families. I cannot thank the entire team enough for their ongoing support and the way they care for our students.
I have slowly been able to meet the community and I would also like to thank you all for your support, understanding and communication. We have a wonderful P&C committee who keep the students at the forefront of their decisions and I am thankful for their support. I wish everyone a restful and safe holiday break. We are looking forward to Term 2! The first day back for students will be Wednesday 27 April.
Kind regards,
Emily Morrow
