Principal's Report

Dear parents/carers,

We have another busy term ahead with excursions, a whole school incursion and many other end of year events already on the calendar.

Addressing Concerns

If you have any concerns with another child or family, please notify your child's teacher or contact the office. It is not appropriate for adults to speak to another child or to intimidate other families on school grounds. As a school, we would prefer to address these issues to ensure that our school remains a safe environment for all.

Family Holidays

If you are planning holidays during the school term, please make sure to contact the office prior to booking any travel. Family holidays should be taken over term breaks to avoid disruption to your child's learning. Approval is not automatically granted, therefore we advise that you make an appointment to discuss your travel intentions prior to making any bookings. All leave taken will be recorded as an absence, and students who take excessive leave may be referred to the Home School Liaison Officer.

COVID

The Department of Education has continued to maintain COVID smart measures for Term 4. Our school will continue to operate with our baseline COVID-smart measures in place throughout Term 4 to minimise transmission and keep our school open. This includes a combination of layered safety measures such as maintaining hygiene and cleaning practices, using rapid antigen testing (RAT) when experiencing symptoms, maximising natural ventilation, strongly encouraged vaccinations and strongly encouraging mask-wearing particularly when indoors and/or physical distancing is not possible.

Please ensure you inform the school if your child, or a member of your household test positive to COVID.

Student Uniform

It has been great to see most students in full school uniform each morning, please ensure your child wears black shoes every day. If you have any issues with providing your child with the correct uniform, please contact the office as financial assistance is available to support families in need.

Parking and Road Safety

Council rangers have been patrolling Marsden Road before and after school, issuing fines to vehicles not adhering to road rules. Please remember to always drive safely around the school, and only park is designated parking areas to ensure the safety of everyone.

Regards,

Emma Meddows

Attendance Matters

School Sport Australia Tennis Championships

Congratulations to Dusan from 6Z on representing NSW at the School Sport Australia Tennis Championships held in Canberra last week. The NSW State team that included Dusan came 3rd achieving a Bronze Medal an outstanding achievement.  We wish him the best in his future tennis endeavours.

Well done to Dusan for an outstanding results in tennis this year.

NSW PSSA State Athletics Championships

Congratulations to Kitiona from 4A who recently represented Sydney South West at the NSW PSSA State Athletics Championships held at Homebush a few weeks ago. Kitiona finished 4th in the Final of the 100m boys making him the 4th fastest runner in NSW for his age group. An amazing performance from a talented young man.

Well done to Kitiona for an outstanding result in Athletics this year.

Debating

We have had a great run this year with our debating teams in the Premier’s Debating Challenge. Both the Debating Professors and the Greatest Speakers competed against lots of formidable opponents, including Newbridge Heights Public School, Mount Pritchard East Public School, Warwick Farm Public School and Liverpool Public School. Overall, the debating teams have done well with both wins and losses. Though some topics were tricky, it was a great experience and we had an awesome time. We also learnt a lot and received great feedback to help us improve. It was wonderful to see our debating teams rise to the challenge and grow as a team.

We are also extremely proud of Avneet and Zvonimir who attended the Regional Debating Trials. It was a great opportunity for both of them to work alongside students from other schools and also an eye-opening experience to witness debating at a higher level. They both put in exceptional effort and did a great job. Well done!

Stage 3 Science Incursion

Last term, Stage 3 attended a science incursion around the science unit: Natural Disasters, which supplemented what they learnt in class. They learnt about the science behind extreme weather events and natural disasters, observed demonstrations, conducted experiments and had a blast!

Art Club

Welcome back to Term 4 everyone, MRPS’s Art Club would love to brighten up your week with flashbacks showcasing our amazing artworks from Term 3! Our stage-based art clubs meet weekly to unleash our creative flairs. We have been exploring the six Art Elements and this has allowed us to create and appreciate art in more meaningful ways. Stay tuned to see more magical masterpieces to come from our Term 4 participants!
