What an unprecedented week we have had at Huskisson PS. In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, I would like to congratulate and thank the Huskisson School Community for remaining calm and well informed. We are taking precautions to try to maintain social distancing. Where practical desk placements have been altered and students are taking part in outdoor lessons. Students are being supervised washing their hands, when entering the classrooms, before eating and at multiple other times throughout the day. We have lots of soap and water and other equipment has been provided to each class. On Wednesday, at canteen, the students used hand sanitizer to maintain hygiene practices. All high touch surfaces are being cleaned throughout the day and I am confident we are doing what we can to reduce the risk.
To reduce further risk, we would like to ensure that all children are bringing their own drink bottles to school so that bubbler use is not essential. We are in the process of having our high touch outside areas scheduled for daily cleaning also.
This situation has also given us the friendly nudge to do more online, for some of the few cases of children who, for medical reasons are unable to attend school. Each of these cases is considered individually. The use of Google Classroom is available to compliment what is being done in class. School is a safe place for your child to be and the best place to receive full access to the curriculum. I am excited to say that planning is now underway so that we will be able to hold a Huskisson Public School virtual assembly every Monday morning. This is certainly in the trial stage at the moment, but we are hopeful that this can take place next week. Currently we ask that families at home follow the link provided in google classrooms and Dojo to log on at 9.10am. Fingers crossed for success. We are also looking at possibilities for the children who are sick at home being able to sign in to other parts of the day.
