Richmond Christian College TIDINGS

Term 3 Week 7 . 2019

FAMILY PANCAKE BREAKFAST AND FOOTY COLOURS DAY

FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Thank you...

When Paul is giving his final benedictions to the people of Thessalonica and outlining the best ways for us to live, he writes, “Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” (1 Thess 5:16 – 18)

The Bible encourages us in many areas to be thankful and to give thanks not just because God deserves it and so do others, but also because it is good for our soul. I wanted to stop this week and just say thank you to our community.

Thank you to our volunteers who are constantly giving of their time to come in and help out with primary and high school lessons, HSC Exams preparation, reading, gala days, touch footy and so much more. Thank you for the way you contribute to our culture by modelling what it is to contribute to others.

Thank you to our community who have contributed to Tools for School and our Library/Scholarship/Building funds over the last term or so. We have been able to equip the Tech Shed to begin Manual Technology woodwork projects for Year 7 & 8; I am sure you have seen the photos of the students building their pinball machines. We have also been able to purchase many new books for the library and we are currently accepting scholarship applications for next year.

Our current build is also progressing nicely. We were able to open up the three new Primary classrooms before the Family Cinema Under the Stars. It is wonderful to see the students in their new classrooms. I really appreciate the help that you give us to assist us in providing the excellent education we do to our students. If you would like to donate or volunteer in any way, please don’t hesitate to contact our School Office for opportunities.

Thank you to all who attended the Family Cinema Under the Stars, it was a wonderful night and we raised over $400 for Lighthouse Academy School in Zimbabwe. Presently, we are finishing our Tools for Schools Campaign with our Lamington and Pie drive so please get your orders in for this to help us contribute further to Lighthouse Academy School in Zimbabwe.

I also wanted to say a quick thank you to all the dads and granddads after Father’s Day. As a school we see the impact dads and ‘poppys’ have on their kids. To be a parent is the biggest privilege we have in life. In one moment, it can be the most rewarding and inspiring thing we do and then, in the next, it can leave us undone and lost for words. I want to thank you for the tireless hours you spend moulding, loving and forgiving. We see the results in your kids when we build on the foundations you have laid. I want to encourage you to never relent on showing your kids that you love them, be it the text to your daughter when she doesn’t want it, the ruffle of your boy’s hair so he has to redo it or the endless car trips to the endless events. Whilst we know we would do anything for our kids, it is critical that we don’t stop showing them this no matter how tired we feel, no matter how frustrated we are and no matter how busy we become. So, thank you for what you have done and what you will do.

Thanks…

Jonno
