Newsletter Term 3 Week 9

From the Principal

Welcome

In week 7, we had a massive week full of awesome activities. On Wednesday 2 September we had Health and PE Day when students were encouraged to dress up in their favourite sports clothes for casual day. Mrs Villano planned for the older students to run activities at break times. Many of the younger students thoroughly enjoyed playing and learning some new skills.

On Thursday 3 September, our entire school and preschool walked down to the Hopgood Theatre to watch a musical performance presented by Lonsdale Heights primary school. Our school paid for all students to attend as part of the performing arts curriculum. The students absolutely enjoyed the musical, which for some was the first live performance they had seen. Our students represented the school with great pride in the public spaces of Colonnades. We had several comments from members of the public about our fantastic student behaviour and exceptional manners.  Great work students!

Due to the current restrictions and requirements of COVID-19, it is with sad news that adults are not permitted on site for Sports Day this year, to be held on Thursday 24 September. We will have nominated staff take many pictures and videos on the day, to capture the moments of this year's Sports Day. We will endeavour to have a video/collage available for the community to watch at a later date.

All families have now received a text message from the school informing them that all our communication from now on will be made through the Skoolbag app. This will continue for the rest of the year. If you know of anyone who is having difficulty accessing the Skoolbag app, please tell them to contact the school where we can assist them with setting up the app.

Regards,

Michael Sboro

Wellbeing News

Wellbeing and Engagement Collection

Students in years 4-7 will be participating in the Wellbeing and Engagement Data Collection survey over the next few weeks.

This survey asks students about their wellbeing and engagement within the school environment and will cover school relationships, engagement, and learning. It will also cover physical health and wellbeing after school. Information provided in the survey is strictly confidential and students cannot be identified in anyway. This information is collected to help schools work at addressing the needs of students.

PRESCHOOL NEWS

We are very excited to show off our new pergola. The  pergola will provide us with plenty of shade from the elements. This will give us the opportunity to engage in lots of outdoor learning protected from the hot and cold weather. We will be keeping our lovely ornamental vine, retraining it to grow along the perimeter.
