Dear Community,
Well we have had a fantastic couple of weeks here at Scarborough PS with our students participating in a couple of major events in the last few weeks. Firstly, last Friday night, around 20 of our year 4-6 students participated in the One Big Voice performance at Perth Arena. You can read and see more about the evening below, but I would like to take a moment to thank our new Music Specialist, Mrs Tamara Bird, for the amazing efforts she put in to ensure the evening was such a success for our students. It should be noted that as Mrs Bird only joined us at the beginning of Term 2, she only had half the time of other schools to ensure that our choir learned the words and actions to 12 songs to be able to join in with other choirs across the state. Congratulations to both Mrs Bird and our choir for working so hard to pull off this amazing achievement. They were magnificent! We look forward to hearing our choir perform at assemblies and community events over the remainder of the year.
Of course, today we held our 2019 athletics carnival. This is an event that requires planning and collaboration from all of our staff to ensure that the day runs smoothly. This year, the event was coordinated by our new physical education specialist, Mr Aaron Bacci. This was another fantastic effort as Aaron has only been with us for 7 weeks. It was certainly a big effort to learn the ropes and coordinate all the events in such a short period of time. Thank you Mr Bacci! Thanks also goes to Mr Gordon and all our parent helpers.
Finally I would like to thank Mrs Erica Salt for stepping into the principal role so seamlessly whilst I was on leave for the first half of the term. As usual, she dealt with all that came her way in a calm, graceful and effective way. Thank you Mrs Salt, you are such an integral part of our community.
Whilst it was amazing to be off exploring the world, it is equally lovely to be able to come back to work with the outstanding staff who help to make Scarborough PS all that it is.
