Dear parents and carers,

Welcome to Week 8. We have all really enjoyed having our newest Kindergarten 2023 students and their families joining us this week for our Wambles orientation program. 

2023 Student Leadership Team

Congratulations to all candidates from rounds 1 and 2 of the student leadership elections. The high calibre of our students is certainly evident in the way they have engaged in and conducted themselves throughout the selection process.

Our Student Leadership Team 2023 Elect has been announced and congratulations to our Student Leadership Team for 2023 pictured below.

Eli, Lucy, Marli, Chloe, Freddy, Gemma, Cohen, Kade, Finn (absent) and Solara (absent).

The announcement of our School Captains and Vice Captains will be made at the Stage 3 Presentation Day on Tuesday 13 December 2022.

Last Day of Term 4 2022

A reminder that student reports will be sent home on Wednesday 14 December 2022 and the last day of Term 4 for all students is Friday 16 December 2022.

Positive Behaviour for Learning Matters: Safe Respectful Learners

At Wamberal Public School, we are safe, respectful learners. This week, all students have been learning about being safe, respectful learners when they do the Cyber 5. Teachers are rewarding students with SRLs for demonstrating the school’s expectations of safe, respectful learner behaviour.

Library Winners!

Congratulations once again to our Book Week prize winners. Annie B (4 purple) was absent last week and has now chosen her prizes. Further prizes are currently being awarded to students whose work has been Highly Commended.

Library Loans

Thank you for ensuring that all student loans have been returned. Please check email notifications for details of overdue books and return these items immediately or pay their replacement costs so that other students don’t miss out on these titles.

Book Club Issue 8 orders close on December 2. Please add “GIFT” to Issue 8 orders if you intend to collect your surprise purchase from the school office.

Currently reading quirky fairy tales to Year 2 students. Year 1 students have enjoyed titles linked to their Science programs. Kinder students continue their ABC author program.

P&C News

Canteen Volunteer SOS

The canteen will be closed for the final three Wednesdays of the school term due to staff illness. We are also short of workers in the canteen until the end of term. If you can help, please email president@wamberalpandc.org.au asap or call 0400 761 976.

Christmas Mufti

Performing arts will benefit from a Christmas mufti day on Friday December 9. Children are invited to dress in a Christmas themed and sun safe outfit and bring in a gold coin donation.

Attention Year 6 Families

Each year 6 student is being asked to participate in a fundraising project to support the year 6 formal.

All year 6 students have been issued with a unique barcode that can be scanned when depositing used cans and bottles at any Return and Earn collection point. Please continue depositing used cans and bottles. We thank everyone for their support.

Our P&C has been fortunate to receive more than $8000 since the inception of the program.

ICAS Coordinators 

GulangFest 2022

On Thursday 24 November, twenty students and their families along with Mrs Rees, Mrs Jenkin and Mrs Tyson attended GulangFest 2022; a celebration of Aboriginal culture and arts on the Central Coast. It was a very successful night showcasing the many talented Aboriginal students and teacher on the Central Coast. Students represented WPS, performing in dance and in the TLLC Koori Choir. Congratulations to Harmony R in Yr6 who won the Stan Ralph Scholarship award, and the 3- 6 Individual art award. Congratulations also goes to Harmony R, Nash H and Ella N from Yr 6 who received the Kuriwa AECG Aboriginal Education Award in recognition for their dedication to culture, performing arts, sport, didge, and leadership. A big thank you to our wonderful teachers; Mrs Tyrell and Miss Heys for leading and choreographing the dance group, Miss Heys for supporting our inspiring artists at the GulangFest art workshop, and Mrs Burgess for leading the Koori Choir this year.  We appreciate all of your dedication to enhance Aboriginal Education opportunities for our students at WPS. 

The Catholic Scripture teachers from Our Lady Star of the Sea Parish, Terrigal, wish you and your families a joyful Advent, a happy Christmas and wonderful summer holiday break.
