Husky Star Newsletter Week 10 Term 1 2020

Thank You Thank you Thank You

This week we received word about our forthcoming new Principal, although many of these details cannot be shared yet, we are super excited to have her start at our school in Term 2.

It has been my absolute pleasure to be your Acting Principal this term. I have thoroughly enjoyed working with students, staff and our beautiful school community during this time. I will return to my role of Assistant Principal and do what I can to help our new Principal to settle in at the best school on the south coast - Huskisson Public School.  Thank you so much for your cooperation in this time of uncertainty and all you have done for your children to continue their learning experience.

Regards,

Ms Greta Lewis

Acting Principal

Plans for Term 2

Staff have been busy making plans to continue working remotely  from the start of Term 2. There is no indication at this stage of how long this arrangement will last, but we will keep you informed.

Some important points to remember:

  • School holidays start today, so no new work will be posted again until 28 April 2020.
  • Parents are not to arrange zoom catch ups inside of school hours. Teachers have been set a minimum standard of zooms for Term 2.
  • If a student does not engage with google classroom for two consecutive day,s teachers will be in contact with parents. A repeat incident would result in the same consequence and the third will gain the Principal's attention.
  • Teachers will be onsite for one week and offsite the next week.
  • Teachers will contact parents in a three week rotation.
  • Student learning support officers will support all teachers and students with additional needs.
  • Please contact the school with any concerns.

Virtual Easter Hat Parade

Our little school became famous this week when we featured on WIN news Illawarra and ABC Illawarra radio for our very unique Virtual Easter Hat Parade. The students and families did an amazing job of creating very innovative hats at home out of recycled, reused and re-purposed materials. They then sent in all of their photos and videos and we put them altogether to make our virtual Easter Hat parade. Thank you to Maddie and Jake for hosting the event on the day and all of the students and staff who were at school making the live component very unpredictable and interesting. For those of you who missed it there are copies of the pre-recorded videos on our private school Instagram account and in all of the children's Google Classrooms. Thank you for making such a huge effort for our children to share a little cheer in these crazy times.
