Parent Teacher Interviews

Parent Teacher Interviews commenced last week and will continue this week and at the beginning of Term 2. Thanks to everyone for engaging with our online booking system through the Sentral Parent Portal. If you haven’t been able to book an interview time, please contact your class teacher through See Saw or Class Dojo to arrange a suitable time.

Teddy Bear’s Picnic

March 23rd Kindergarten held their annual Teddy Bear’s Picnic. It is always such a happy event with all of our parents involved. Well done to all the students and teachers for making the day a great success, particularly Miss King for her organisation.

Cross Country

On Friday, WWSPS had its school Cross-Country for Years 2-6. All students performed extremely well and got in and gave it their best, which is all we can ask! Congratulations to all those students who finished in the top 6 places in their age group. We wish you all the very best at the SCC Zone carnival. Thanks to Mr Young for all his organisation of the event.

Easter Hat Parade

Tuesday April 4th, WWS will host one of its favourite annual school events – the Easter Hat Parade. We warmly invite family and friends to attend on the day and be a part of the event.

WWS Yarn Up & Cultural Garden Opening

Yesterday WWS hosted the official opening of our new cultural garden down near the Wentworth Ave gate.

The garden has been a project solely completed by our School Administration Manager, Jen Macgregor a task far beyond her required role, but a true testament to her outstanding commitment to our school community.

A huge thankyou for the countless hours she has given up liaising with trades, building garden beds and ordering the appropriate plants. Thank you also to our Aboriginal families who attended the opening and to the broader members of our local Aboriginal school community (whose dancing was amazing!) and Koorana AECG, who so generously gave of their time to be with us.

We hope this is a place for all to enjoy for many years come and on the back of the positive feeling at the event yesterday, something we can do regularly to bring our community together. Lastly, congratulations and thankyou to our Aboriginal Education team at WWS for all the fantastic organisation of the event – much appreciated.

As this is the last newsletter for Term 1, I would like to wish you all a very happy Easter and hope you are all able to enjoy some quality time with family and friends.

Kind regards,

Matt Barr

Principal

Sydney North Success for Woy Woy South Swimmers

Late last week, 7 Woy Woy South students travelled to Olympic Park to represent our Zone in the very competitive Sydney North Swimming Championships. All the students did remarkably well just to qualify for the event and should be exceptionally proud of their achievement. Well done Lewis P, Quinn D, Alayna M, Asta M, Maliyah M and Ella S who finished 9th in the Junior Girls 200m Medley.

Bridget M performed very well, swam her personal bests and achieved remarkable results. Competing in the Multi Class category she achieved 1st place in Breastroke, Backstroke and Butterfly and 2nd place in Freestyle.

She was a deserved Swimmer of the Meet in Multi Class Girls. She will represent Sydney North at the State Carnival later this term and we wish her all the best in this competition.

Congratulations Bridget and all of our swimmers, we are incredibly proud of your efforts, and you did an outstanding job.

Looking forward to a terrific day on Friday!!

Thank you so much for all the yummy easter chocolate donations and for purchasing tickets in our Easter Raffle. So far, we have raised over $280.00, and we still have this Thursday to go. We will be selling the last tickets in the 3-6 Cola, so don’t miss out.

The raffle will be drawn next Monday at our morning flag assembly, and we have LOTS of prizes for the lucky raffle winners. There has also been a teacher guessing competition and the lucky teacher will be announced Monday as well. I wonder who the lucky teacher will be!

The money raised will be going towards supporting families and people battling cancer. These funds can sometimes provide much needed relief for those who are fighting cancer. Thank you so much for supporting the Easter Raffle and good luck for Monday.

Easter Raffle Prizes - stay tuned!

Harmony Day - THANK YOU

WWSPS celebrated Harmony Day on Friday 24th of March, 2023. Harmony Day is a day that we celebrate Australian multiculturalism. We celebrated and promoted inclusiveness, respect and belonging for all Australians. It was great to see students and staff wearing orange. Orange signifies meaningful social communication, freedom of ideas, and encouragement of mutual respect.

The Harmony Day-themed food specials were a big hit! Students participated in Harmony Day classroom activities and discussions. Congratulations to the students who received a Harmony Day award for demonstrating the key values of Harmony Day at our special assembly. Thank you to students, families, and staff who donated a gold coin. The total amount raised was $245.10.

All funds will be donated to the 'Hope in a Suitcase' charity and will go towards providing children in out-of-home care with the essential items to make their lives a little bit easier. Thank you for supporting Harmony Day at WWSPS!
