Dear Parents and Carers,

Welcome to Week 10 Term 2, we have a lot to celebrate and be proud of the things we have achieved under these unique circumstances. We have been working towards establishing strong learning routines for all of our students. Thank you for your support with your child’s learning. Please have a safe and restful break. As we are in the middle of flu season, and now COVID 19, some school staff have been away as they are either recovering or are getting covid testing and having to wait for results. This has put pressure on obtaining enough casual staff to assist the school.  I thank you in advance for your understanding in this matter.

All students return on Tuesday 21 July 2020 for Term 3

Teachers return on Monday 20 July to participate in professional learning. All office staff will be participating in professional learning. The School office will reopen from 8:30am Tuesday 21 July 2020

Thank you to everyone for filling out the survey on caremonkey in regards to morning entry and dismissal routines. The results from parents and carers supported that:

  •  Children dropping off at the gate alleviated separation issues
  •  A number of executives are on duty at front and side gates greeting children and parents in the morning and ensuring children enter the playground safely
  •  Students arrive in class early ready to begin learning, becoming more independent and are more settled
  • Parents & carers report much easier to do kiss & drop in the morning and driving away
  •  Parents & carers report they are happy that adults are not in the playground taking up additional space which restrict students’ playing area, as student safety is paramount
  • Canteen has stated that the online ordering has increased and been very successful due to no late orders and having enough time to organise the correct meals for all students
  • Parents and carers report they would like a return of pre- covid 19 dismissal routines.

The school has taken note of the community, students and staff feedback and we have planned accordingly. From Term 3 2020, the school will continue the morning drop offs either at the front gate (no adults on the playgrounds) or side gate for kiss & ride.

Afternoon dismissals procedures will continue whilst restriction guidelines are in place. Please practise the 1.5m social distancing while lining up outside of the school grounds. If you need to talk to the class teacher email the school and the class teacher will contact you via the phone.

The school encourages the use of Kiss & Ride when picking up children as this eases the amount of people on school grounds and alleviate the need to find parking. The school will continue to review its procedures to ensure the safety of the entire school community.

 Play equipment

Thank you to the P and C who organised the Community grant as the school has various play equipment for students to play on.  The school has been doing risk assessments and organising the equipment to be cleaned on a daily basis and induction procedures for all students and staff and in Term 3.  The play equipment will be open for students in Term 3 and this will be on a timetable.

Breakfast Club

Thank you to the staff who have organised and volunteered their time to provide a breakfast club for all students. Thank you to Big Yellow Umbrella for supporting the breakfast club.  In Term 3 Breakfast club will start each Tuesday.

Students walking safely to and from school

The school and the P&C have been continuously working with Camden Council on the traffic issues around the school. The council have stated that they are working on speeding up the process to implement the various traffic signs and crossing.

I ask that all drivers adhere to the traffic rules and drive at 40km or less, especially when entering or leaving Barley Road as there are some students who cross at the various intersections at either Millman Road or Wagner Road. At the same time, teachers and the school are teaching ongoing Road Safety lessons with all students.

We are encouraging those students who walk to and from the school to cross at Barley road near the electronic sign as this is where the future Pedestrian Crossing will be placed and it will be expected that all pedestrians will use it. Please have ongoing discussions with your child/ren about being responsible, being alert and crossing the road near the school electronic sign when crossing Barley Road; as everyone’s SAFETY is a priority. If you are accompanying your child/ren when walking, please demonstrate good role modelling and cross near the school’s electronic sign.

Kiss and Ride

Please view the disabled parking sign on Harland Road and what to do within the kiss and ride area.

We need help to support our amazing school to enhance the educational needs of our students and create a link between the parents, the school & our wonderful community.

We need your help to raise funds to upgrade the Kiss & Ride area

How it works:

1.  Bring in your spare coins for your class jar

2.  The class that raises the most money will win a prize

A huge Thank you to Kathy at One Concept Real Estate Group for their donation of $200 to go towards the upgrade to our Kiss and Ride community area.

Picking up students early from school

Thank you to the parents who have been emailing the school prior to picking up their student/students early.

If you choose to come within the lunch break times shown below when all the students are out playing, staff are either on playground duties or having their mandatory breaks, it is difficult to notify the child/children from the playground as they don't always hear their names and all schoolbags are locked in the classroom.  You may have to wait until the end of the breaks so that your child/children can be notified properly and enable them to organise their belongings  If you know in advance that you have to pick up your child/children early please email the school in advance.

SKOOLBAG

School Uniforms

We are very proud of our uniform which stands out and is unique in the Macarthur area. We are establishing pride in Spring Farm Public and has stated that wearing full school uniform can assist in developing ‘self-esteem and a sense of connection to the community,’ more information about wearing the school uniform:https://education.nsw.gov.au/policy-library/policies/school-uniform-policy

The school asks, if you can source a navy blue jacket, navy sloppy joe, navy blue shorts and pants and school shirt as we are trying to instill pride, set a good example for our new enrolments and develop a connection with each other. If you require assistance in purchasing various uniform please contact the school for assistance. If you have any spare uniforms please donate to the school and we can assist other families.

Labeling all school uniforms and items

Please label all uniforms and items (lunch boxes and drink bottles) with your child’s name and if possible, the class that they are in.  The Students Leadership team are assisting students to collect their own belongings from each break and from their classrooms. Please continuously remind your child/ren of being responsible for collecting their own belongings and putting their jumpers into their school bag!

To assist our students and staff, please use this type of label (below) onto your child’s uniforms as it is easier to read names and return it to the individual students in a timely manner.  Using black markers to write the names the on the collar tags is difficult to read and they fade from frequent washing.

Canteen online ordering

A Kind reminder to all parents/carers please utilise the online ordering system with the Canteen.

As Department guidelines still states that NO parents are permitted on school grounds.

Thank you
