Letter from the Acting Principal

Confirmation

Last Thursday, our parish community gathered to celebrate Mass and the Sacrament of Confirmation. Thirty of our Year 5/6 students were joined by 10 students from surrounding schools. The Mass was celebrated by the Very Rev Anthony Kerin EVPP Episcopal Vicar for the Eastern Region of the Diocese and concelebrated by Father Thomas Kuruvila PP and Deacon Rev Peter Stringfellow. With all government restrictions on the number of people allowed to gather being lifted, this was the first Sacramental Celebration our children and their families and friends were able to celebrate together since 2019. Consequently, the increased level of warmth and joy in our community was evident to all who attended. The candidates, who led all the readings, did so prayerfully throughout the Mass and received the anointing of the Holy Spirit with reverence. Many thanks to all who have contributed to the children’s  faith journeys so far, including their parents, godparents, family and friends together with their teachers and catechists. We pray that they continue to grow in faith and use their gifts and talents to serve others.

Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease

We have had a reported case of Hand Foot and Mouth disease.  Hand, foot and mouth disease is a viral infection that causes a rash or blisters on the hands and feet, as well as in or around the mouth. This disease mainly affects children under the age of 10, but can also affect adolescents. It spreads easily from one person to another. Symptoms usually start three to seven days after becoming infected, and can last from seven to 10 days. If your child has HFMD, they may feel tired, have a fever, and have a rash. Children with hand, foot and mouth disease should not attend school until their blisters have dried-up, and any rash (if present) has gone and any fever has settled.
