Principal's Message

Dear Community

This week I’d like to thank everyone, staff, students and parents included, for helping to make the last two weeks of swimming lessons run so smoothly and be such a positive experience for our students. There were lots of tired, but happy looking faces that returned from the pool on their last day today!

I also wanted to remind everyone of the dates of our end of year concerts. They are as follows:

  • End of Year concerts/ award presentations: Due to construction, we will be running 3 separate end of year award ceremonies this year. They are likely to be held in the under cover area on the following days
    • Rooms 4, 5 and 9 – Wednesday 7 December from 2pm
    • PP and Room 6 – Thursday 8 December from 2pm
    • Rooms 2,11,12 and 14 – Monday 12 December from 2pm

Surveys

We currently have two surveys active to seek your ideas and thoughts into a couple of areas of our school. We would very much appreciate if you could spare 5 minutes to complete them as your input is greatly valued.

School Website

You may have noticed that our school website has now been replaced by a holding page whilst our new site is developed over the next month or so. In the meantime, for any enrolment or general information, please contact the school office.

School Board

The Board met on Wednesday 2 November with the website developers and discussed preferences in style, format and content. The meeting was very productive and the developers now have all the information they need to start building our new page. We hope to have it running for the start of next year. Watch this space!

We have 1 more Parent Representative vacancy on the School Board that is currently vacant. The tenure runs from now until the end of 2023.  You will need to be a parent at Scarborough Primary School until the end of 2023 to be eligible.

The Board’s role is required to help the school deliver a quality education experience to our children by:

  • establishing and reviewing the goals, priorities and policies of the school at a strategic level;
  • supporting the development of our School Business Plan;
  • noting school budgets;
  • discussing the performance of our school in achieving the goals set; and
  • promoting our school within the community.

So, if the description above peaks your interest we would love you to consider nominating. If you are interested in nominating for a Parent Representative position, please email Sarah.Dawson@education.wa.edu.au or express your interest in person to the front office.

As always, if you have any queries, please don’t hesitate to call or email me on Sarah.Dawson@education.wa.edu.au

Collection of RAT's

We have oral and nasal RAT's test for collection at the office for each family. We require a parent/guardian to collect these, or you can pick these up on another parents behalf.

Each child has been allocated an initial group of 20 free tests (these were oral tests) and we have now received another delivery of nasal RATs of which each student is entitled to an additional 20 tests. As we have plenty of stock of both tests we are happy for you to collected your allocation as either oral or nasal tests.

P&C News

Happy Friday Everyone,

Thank you to everyone who supported our fantastic Bingo Night. It was an awesome night with lots of laughs, dancing and some bingo. A big thank you to the fundraising committee for arranging it all and to all the families and businesses that supported us by providing prizes for the silent auction, spot prizes and raffles.

We have put together a survey to gain knowledge on how our canteen is utilised and what fundraising ideas the school community would like to see in 2023. It would be amazing if you could take a few minutes to complete it as it will help shape what events and activities we look to run in 2023. Please click on the link to the survey here.

There will be a Christmas t-shirt day on Friday 2 December, for a gold coin donation send your child to school in their favourite Christmas top.

The final P&C meeting of 2022 is being held on Tuesday 6 December at 6:30 pm in the school library. Come along, and help us start brainstorming for 2023 and enjoy an end of year drink!

UNIFORM SHOP

The Uniform Shop is stocked so come and pay us a visit on Wednesday mornings for all your uniform requirements from 8:45 am to 9:15 am.

If anyone is looking to save a few dollars, the uniform shop currently has a large number of second-hand uniforms available. Please come and have a look on Wednesday or reach out via the email below.

Order forms can be collected from the front office.  Emailed orders will be either delivered to your child’s classroom or available for pick up from the front office.

CANTEEN

We are always looking for canteen volunteers. So, if you or anyone in your immediate family (aunts, uncles, grandparents etc) have any Friday mornings available, Laura would love some assistance in the canteen.

Helping out in Canteen means that you come in and support Laura for 2 hours, usually between 10:00 am - 12:00 pm or 11:00 am -1:00 pm; whatever works for you! Duties consist of washing dishes, prepping pizzas, handing out lunches, etc.

Email us at the P&C or speak to Laura on Fridays in the canteen if you are keen to help.

Please also note that all canteen orders need to be placed via QuickCliq prior to 8:30 am on Friday. Cash is not accepted.

ENTERTAINMENT BOOK

We continue to fundraise through the Entertainment Book. When you purchase the Entertainment Book, a portion will go to the P&C.

Order your membership here https://www.entertainment.com.au/orderbooks/86y129

CONTAINERS FOR CHANGE

We will continue to fundraise through the Containers for Change initiative. The Containers for Change bins can be found at the school entry at Hinderwell Street near the Room 9 Heritage Building. Keep on bringing those empty cans and bottles to support the P&C!
