Creepy crawlies, technology, and bushfire studies are some of the themes we will be addressing in the library this term. Kindergarten, Year 1 and Year 2 had a great introduction to insects and have started learning how to draw scientific diagrams as well as having some online fun with interactive skill-based games. This week the library was swarming in all things bee related and in turn, the students learned all about beekeeping!
Stage 2 are really diving into the world of technology and have been introduced to new learning using the Dash and Evo robots. Other groups are trying to keep their hands steady as they are making animations using our extensive Lego collection. Bushfire mitigation is the hot topic with Stage 3. Over the term we will be learning all about the nature of fire, cultural burning and how bushfires have effected our lifestyle, the local environment and the world.
Sadly, we have not been able to hold our annual Book Fair so far this year, however, we do have a tentative booking for late in Term 4. In the meantime students can still purchase books through Scholastic and this week they have received their Book Club catalogue. Thanks, in advance, for ordering books through Scholastic because 20% of every dollar spent by you gives us credits to buy great resources for the library. Orders are due back by Friday 7th August.
Finally, I am not usually a supporter of any giveaways that our major stores promote, however, in this case Coles is giving away Little Treehouse books by Andy Griffiths. Should you happen to obtain more than your family needs then please consider donating them to the library. I have some fun activities planned for them should I get enough! Thanks and happy reading from Mrs Hanson
