From the Principal

Dear Parents and Carers,

This week our Year 5/6 students had a wonderful time on their City Camp with visits to many educational and iconic sites in Melbourne.

We have had an increase in the number of students testing positive with COVID and I urge parents to remain diligent in testing their children if they have symptoms and encourage them to wear a mask in the classroom as highly recommended by the Health Department and CECV.

Our annual Book Fair will be open for business next Tuesday.  More details are available in this newsletter.

NAPLAN data reports will be available as of next week for years 3 & 5 students.

Kind regards,

Olga Lyons, Principal

This week's newsletter is the last one for this term.

New Child Safe Standards

Child safety and wellbeing at St. Patrick’s: information for families and the school community.

The Victorian Government has announced new Child Safe Standards to further strengthen child safety across organisations, including schools. The new standards recognise the critical importance of families and the broader school community in maintaining and promoting child safety and wellbeing.

St. Patrick’s has reviewed and updated our child safety policies and procedures to ensure they meet the requirements of the new standards. These are available to view on our school website and skoolbag app.

We are committed to continuous improvement in our approach to child safety and wellbeing and welcome feedback from families and members of our school community on ways we can further strengthen our child safety policies, procedures and practices.

If you have any suggestions, comments or questions, please contact principal@spportfairy.catholic.edu.au

eSafety Information for parents

On last week’s newsletter we included a piece on social media concerns. It is so important that we as a school community (parents/carers, staff and students) are aware of both the wonders and dangers of social media. The Office of the eSafety Commissioner provides valuable advice on this topic.

Term 3 - Hooptime & Soccer

With term 3, our annual Hooptime Basketball Tournament is upon us.  Year 3 / 4 students will be competing in the Moyne School’s Junior Hooptime Tournament on Tuesday 2nd August.  Year 5 / 6 students will be competing in the Moyne School’s Senior Hooptime Tournament on Tuesday 16th August.   Both days are held at the Warrnambool Basketball Stadium.

Those children who are interested have forwarded their names and will participate in practice over the next two weeks in preparation for their day.

Our students at St Patrick’s will also be participating in Soccer Clinics, conducted by Tim White, of Football Victoria.  Each class will have a 1 hour skills session with Tim, once a week for weeks 6-10.  We are looking forward to this opportunity to receive some expert coaching and training.
