Parent Survey
The Tell Them From Me Parent Survey is now open to all Holbrook Public School families. The survey is anonymous and allows the school to identify trends within schools and better inform school priorities. The survey looks at communication between parents and staff, activities and practices at home, and parents’ views on the school's support of learning and positive behaviour to help build an accurate and timely picture that schools can use for practical improvements. The Tell Them From Me survey is held once a year commencing in Term 3 and is run simultaneously as the teacher and student surveys. It takes around 15 minutes to complete. Parents with more than one child at the school may complete the survey more than once if they feel that their children’s experiences differ. We value your opinion and hope you can complete the survey by 23 September. Please see the newsletter article below for the link and details on how to enter our Athlete's Foot competition.
Parent /Teacher Interviews
It was lovely to meet and talk to so many parents at our parent/teacher interviews. I had lots of positive feedback about using our Sentral app to book the interviews. It was great to hear a buzz around the room as parents discussed teaching and learning with the teachers. It is important to discuss the meeting with your child and congratulate them on their strengths. If the teacher suggested things you could do at home, discuss these with your child and plan to work together. Just a reminder that the parent/teacher interview are not the only time you can discuss your child with the teacher, but many parents and carers find it a excellent opportunity to visit the school. If you would like to contact your child’s teacher, please phone the front office, and make a time to meet or call.

Whole School Performance
I look forward to sharing our Whole School Performance, “A Night at the Movies,” with our families this week. Our students have been working on developing skills, knowledge, and understanding of all aspects of the creative and performing arts curriculum. I have been impressed by the enthusiasm and willingness of our students to step out of their comfort zone and perform on stage. A BIG thank you to the staff who have created amazing performances with their students and spent time rehearsing and creating props and costumes to provide valuable learning opportunities for our students.
Professional Learning
Last week, our staff completed our Aboriginal Professional Learning training and looked at ‘Turning Aboriginal Policy into Action’ with Tammy Makeham, Aboriginal Education and Wellbeing Advisor, and Cathie Egan, Aboriginal Community Liaison.
Congratulations!
I would like to take the opportunity to congratulate our ‘Recorder Group’ and Mrs Biar, who performed at the Sydney Town Hall in the Festival of Instrumental Music. I have heard from numerous parents that the performance was amazing, and the large group of recorders playing in such a beautiful building was breathtaking. Mrs Biar is already planning next year’s performance and trip!
I hope everyone has an enjoyable end to the term, and I wish you a safe and relaxing spring break.
