Student Leaders

Last Friday our student leaders for 2020 were presented to the student assembly and pledged to do their very best in their role. We congratulate Ayden, Jasmin, Riley and Rabee on their selection and look forward to supporting them on their journey as young leaders.

Sport leaders were selected by their house teams and take up the role with enthusiasm as they prepare for the swimming carnival and summer sport.

Student Voice Representatives will represent their classes and give voice to class ideas and concerns at regular meetings. This year, class representatives will be selected for a semester, thus giving more students an opportunity to hold a leadership position across the school.

Teacher Professional Learning

Our teaching staff got off to a busy start last week by participating in the Department of Education’s compliance training including Child Protection and Health and Safety procedures. Teachers also spent time reviewing our Learning and Support structures and investigating the latest research and departmental policies in supporting students.  In the coming weeks teachers will update their CPR and anaphylaxis certificates ensuring that student safety, health and wellbeing is a priority in everything we do.

Each Monday and Wednesday afternoon, teachers participate in professional learning after school and are not available for parent interviews.

Sport in Schools Australia (SISA)

This year we welcome Sport in Schools Australia to our school.   This PDHPE program will be delivered by qualified PE teachers and will run for the entire school year.

Wednesday will now be sport day for students in K-2 and students are required to wear their sports uniform only on a Wednesday. Classes in K-2 will participate in an hour of physical activity either with SISA teachers or in the school’s fundamental movement program with class teachers.

Students in Years 3-6 are required to wear their sports uniform on Wednesdays and Fridays. The Wednesday focus will be on skill development with SISA teachers, while Fridays will be  home sport day and PSSA competitions.

Once a fortnight, K-2 teachers or 3-6 teachers will participate in professional learning projects with a focus on developing knowledge in data literacy, analysis and use of data to improve student learning. This year long project is funded through the school’s learning budget. There is no cost to parents.

If your child is absent from school, you are required to provide an explanation for the absence within 7 days from the first day of any period of absence. Attendance is monitored on a regular basis by the Department.

In the morning, a teacher is rostered on for  supervised duty from 8:30am. Students should not be at school by themselves prior to 8:30am.

Please remember our first school bell rings at 8:55am. Students should be at school and ready to line up. We ask parents to farewell their child and step away from lines.  Please stand at the back of the assembly behind students, not at the side. We appreciate your support in this matter.
