Jesus Christ, in his life, death and resurrection is the fixed point of reference for understanding the meaning of the whole of reality.” Goldsworthy (1991) According to Plan, page 60
For the Christian, life is viewed through the lens of a biblical worldview where we see the big picture of God’s redemptive love, culminating in the ‘good news’ of Jesus’ life, death, resurrection, ascension and enthronement in heaven as Lord of his people and of creation.
Central to this worldview is an understanding that the Bible is the unfolding narrative of God’s single, sovereign, revelation for his creation.
At Torrens Valley Christian School, our Christian values permeate the curriculum. We aim to develop a personal understanding of God and how to live in relationship with Him.
Our curriculum reflects a Christ-centred approach in all subjects ensuring that we nurture not only the academic, creative and physical sides of a student’s development, but also their personal, spiritual and moral well-being.
Over the July break, the TVCS staff will be deepening their understanding of how to embed a biblical perspective into educational practice as they attend the International Transforming Education Conference (ITEC).
Teachers, non-teaching staff, executive leaders, school directors, and parents from around our nation will converge on Adelaide for this internationally renowned conference which will be held at the Adelaide Convention Centre, 15-17 July, 2019.
But, not only will staff be participating in ITEC19, a large number of staff from Torrens Valley Christian School will be leading sessions.
In addition to a team of people who have been on the planning committee for the past two years (myself, Fiona Partridge and Julie Dow), our staff will be taking an active role in running workshops (Emily Brookes and Fiona Partridge), delivering an artistic interpretation of the theme Reimagining Practice (Kateryna Bowyer), leading worship (the TVCS Staff Band), leading an Arts Tour (Craig Bowyer) and planning the Opening Service on Sunday afternoon.
A group of students from the school will be taking a lead role as Ushers for the conference, welcoming delegates and assisting in the running of the program.
Another group of students have shared their thoughts on Reimagining Practice from a student viewpoint. These video vignettes will be shown throughout the Conference.
I acknowledge the contribution and involvement that TVCS staff, students, parents, Board and local churches will make to ITEC19 to the glory to God and expectantly look forward to the transformational experiences that will enable our school to re-imagine practice in teaching, supporting, leading or governing.
Yours in Christ’s service.
