Wow, well done to all the parents in K2 and Mrs Lishman!  Everyone has provided a reason for an absence.  Just fantastic. Thank you so much.

With one week to go, let’s see how low we can make the results.  All it takes is a call or SMS to let us know if your child has been sick.  Please remember to do this so that the classroom teacher does not have to use valuable time making phone calls, as the Education Department requires an explanation for every absence.

Here are some facts regarding school attendance provided by the WA Telethon Kids Institute.

Check your child’s last report to see where they are in their rate of attendance and how this will impact their learning. You may get a surprise!

Thank you to all those parents and carers who reply to text messages, letters home, notes in the diary, phoning the school or talking to the teacher.  You are making a great difference.  Well done and keep it up.

NAPLAN

Year 3 and 5 parents will have received their child’s results for the 2022 NAPLAN testing this week.  Remember, this is a one off test and is not always a true indication of how your child is achieving at school.  If you have any concerns, please make an appointment with your child’s teacher.

HEALTH TIPS

Bike Safety - Tips For Children

Riding a bike is great fun and good exercise for children and teens. Here are a few tips to keep your children safe while cycling:

·         Children under 10 should be supervised when riding a bike.

·         Children should be taught the rules of the road before they ride by themselves.

·         Riding in the driveway should not be encouraged. Children need to know that the driveway is dangerous.  Teach them to stop at the end of the driveway, look, listen, and think about whether it is safe to cross the road.

·         Every child needs a helmet that fits correctly.  Helmets should be worn at all times when riding.  Parents should set a good example by wearing a helmet themselves.

·         Children’s bicycles should kept be in good condition and have the appropriate reflectors.

·         Children should wear bright coloured clothing when riding.
