Principal's Report

Tell Them From Me - Years 4-6

This week, our school is taking part in the Tell Them From Me student survey for students in Years 4-6. The survey will provide us with valuable feedback on what our students think about school life, how engaged they are with school and the different ways that teachers interact with them.

The survey is run by an independent research company, The Learning Bar, which specialises in school-based surveys.

As well as providing our school with feedback from our students, the survey has a broader purpose. It provides the Department of Education, through the Centre for Education Statistics and Evaluation, with insights into student wellbeing, engagement, and effective teaching practices for ongoing school improvement. This is done by using non-identifying student data from across NSW.

This survey is confidential, and staff in schools will not be able to identify individual students from their responses.

To ensure confidentiality, participating students will receive a unique username and password. Information is only reported where five or more students answer a question. All information will be handled according to relevant privacy legislation. Students’ personal information will not be disclosed by the department to any other person or body other than as required by law. Individual students will not be identified in any publications.

The survey is online, takes 15 to 30 minutes, and will take place at school during school hours. We will receive a report on our school’s survey results shortly after our students complete the survey.

Participating in the survey is voluntary. If any survey questions make your child uncomfortable, your child can skip the question or can choose to stop the survey at any time.

If you do not want your child/children to take part in the survey, please complete the non-consent form on our Audri App by 3pm Tuesday June 27.

Staff for Term 3

Last week, 5P parents were advised that Mr Hajjaj will not be returning to his role in Term 3.  A recruitment process is currently underway to find a full-time replacement for our Year 5 class. We are also running a recruitment process to find a teacher for our Year 4 class that Mrs Taylor has been covering this term.  We are hopeful that a successful recruitment process will enable Mrs Taylor to return to her role as our non-teaching Assistant Principal responsible for student welfare, learning support, mentoring teachers and providing instructional leadership across our school.

Parents and carers will be notified of the outcome of our recruitment process during the school holidays.

School Holiday and Term 3 Dates

The Winter School holidays commence on Monday, July 3. School staff will return for a School Development Day on Monday July 17.  Students return on Tuesday July 18.

We wish you all a happy and safe holiday period.

Wedding bells!

As the school holidays approach, I wanted to share some exciting news from my personal life. An event of great significance is on the horizon—my daughter's wedding! I am overjoyed to be joining my family in Perth to celebrate this special occasion. It will undoubtedly be a memorable time filled with love and happiness.

Following the wedding, I will be taking some well-deserved time off to embark on a much-anticipated adventure. Greece has been calling my name, and I am eager to explore its rich history, breathtaking landscapes, and vibrant culture. These two weeks will be a time of relaxation, discovery, and the creation of lasting memories.

I extend my heartfelt wishes to each of you for a safe, joyful, and meaningful holiday. May this break be a time of treasured moments and quality time with loved ones.

Thank you for your continued support and understanding. I am grateful to be part of such a caring community. I look forward to reconnecting with you all in the upcoming term, refreshed and ready to continue our journey together.

Multicultural Perspectives Public Speaking Competition

I'm excited to share the latest updates from the Multicultural Perspectives Public Speaking Competition. On Wednesday, June 21, we took four students, accompanied by Mrs. Brett and myself, to Bayanami Public School in Parramatta for the local school finals. Although I couldn't stay to watch, Ms. Gallagher informed me that our students did an incredible job.

This competition provided a valuable platform for our students to express diverse perspectives, fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation for multiculturalism. Our Stage 3 finalists, Antonio and Olivia, along with our Stage 2 finalists, Daniel and Marcus, confidently delivered powerful speeches and impressed everyone with their ability to think on their feet during their impromptu speeches.

Although our students didn't advance to the next round, we couldn't be prouder of their efforts. In recognition of their hard work, we presented each student with well-deserved certificates during our recent whole-school assembly.

Save the date!

Join us for K-2 and 3-6 parent workshops in term 3! Learn how to support your child's literacy and numeracy skills at home. We've organised activities for the children, so parents can attend without worry. Look for the dates in weeks 3 and 4 of term 3; time and location details coming soon.

Let's make a difference together! Stay tuned for updates.

Lost Property - Help Us Help You!

This is a request for parents to check that ALL of their child's property is clearly labelled.  If items - including hats, clothing, drink bottles, containers, bags - are named, we can easily return them.

Please also consider:

Hats - Make sure your child's hat is named clearly (these are taken on and off many times a day).

2nd-hand uniform items - if you have acquired any 2nd-hand items, please ensure you remove any old names and rename them with your child's name.

Old lables - go over any faded labelling to ensure it is clear and legible.

Lunch containers and drink bottlles  - we throw out LOTS of unnamed containers each term. Please write your child's name in permanent marker on the container AND lid, not just attach a label, as labels easily come off.

We would prefer to return lost items to the students each week. If they are not labelled, unfortunately they will be disposed of.

Thank you.

Our Community Hub connects families with each other, the school, and local community services. It's an all-inclusive place where parents can meet, make friends, and take part in weekly or one-off activities that are open to everyone.
