Principal`s Report

We are nearly at the end of term 1 and what a productive term it has been. We all enjoyed our school and zone swimming carnivals, participated in school photos, held a P & C AGM, acknowledged Sorry Day, K-2 participated in the Pet Education Program and Snake Tails, and ATSI students and their families met to developed their PLPs. What a busy term it has been!

As you may be aware Mr M is on leave until the end of term and Mrs Arnot is Relieving Principal in his absence. Mrs Bailey is also on leave with Ms Garland taking her class.

Transition to High School events have begun already and we would like to extend a big THANK YOU to Mr Henry and some of our ex-Wyong Public School students for their recent visit. They shared their experiences of transitioning to Wyong High School and answered student’s questions regarding the process. I am sure our Year 6 students found it very informative. In addition to this Wyong High School have extended the due date for their applications for AVID and IT classes to Friday 12th April (last day of term) so if you are still interested get your application in by 12th April 2019.

A reminder that all Year 6 students were sent home an ‘Enrolment for High School’ form. Please ensure that your child’s form is completed and returned to our front office by Friday 12th April (last day of term). Thank you to those who have already returned their forms, it is very much appreciated.

Stage 3 are heading off to Canberra this year for their major overnight excursion. Please ensure that you have paid your deposit to secure a place for your child.

Staff Development Day will be held on the first day of term 2 which is Monday 29th April 2019. This will be a pupil-free day as staff will be undertaking professional learning on our spelling initiative ‘Words Their Way’. School will start for all students on Tuesday, 30th April 2019at 9am.

I wish you all a very safe and happy holiday

Yours sincerely,

Vicki Arnot

RELIEVING PRINCIPAL.

Other School News

Kinder

It has been a very busy start to Kinder and we are almost ready for our first school holiday break. We have a number of important events coming up and look forward to fun times ahead.

Easter Hat Parade

Tuesday 9th April will be our Annual Easter Hat Parade in the morning from 9:20am in the hall. We will be making our bonnets at school and have requested any Easter craft material to be brought to school so we can use it to make our fabulous bonnets to wear.

Rewards Day

Notes will be coming home soon about Kinder’s Reward Day activities. Children who have achieved 95% dojo will be eligible to attend and will receive a permission note. This will be held on the last day of term, Friday 12th April.

Henny Penny

Next term we will be the proud parents/carers of some delightful new baby chicks. A note has been sent home outlining this program and the costs involved. It is always an exciting time watching the chickens hatch and looking after them as they grow. Don’t forget to return your note and money to the office.

Cross Country

Monday 8th April is our School Cross Country. Kinder will be participating in this event and all parents/carers are welcome to attend. We will run a modified course that will be a lot of fun. We have been training hard for the event and look like elite athletes. Running shoes/joggers will need to be worn on this day to ensure safety when running.

All this fun and hard work will make us very tired and in need of a good Easter break.

Happy Holidays

New Sign-in Process

A new sign-in process is being trialled at the school to improve the safety of our students and staff and ensure that all Department of Education policies and procedures are followed.

All visitors to the school needing to come on site are required to sign-in at the office.

Anyone needing to come on site please bring PHOTO ID with you the next time you visit to register your details (even if the school has previously cited it). All future sign-ins will then be simplified.

Canteen News

Thanks to WPS families for a great Term 1. Please note there will be no lunch orders and no hot food on the last day of term, Friday 12th April 2019. The canteen will be open to serve snacks and drinks as usual.
