From the Principal

Student Success:

We were very impressed with the way our students returned to school last week. Across the school, students have been settled and enthused to learn! Congratulations to everyone!

One Day per Week:

The one day per week staggered return continues this week. Please continue to send your child to school on their allocated day. Essential workers can also send their children to school other days if needed.

What we are doing to keep everyone safe: We have been very thorough in our school organisation to keep our school as safe as possible for students, teachers and parents. Some of the things we are doing include:

Pick up time -  staggering the way students exit the school and having parents collect students without leaving cars where possible. This process has been working very well and I would like to thank parents for your patience and assistance when picking up your children.

Hand Sanitiser and Hand Washing - Students have access to hand sanitiser and soap all day and all students have regular hand washing times. Teachers remind students how to wash their hands correctly and the length of time to wash their hands.

Playground Equipment – Some of our playground equipment is now back in use and is cleaned every morning and after each break. Teachers also have hand sanitiser available for students to use before and after using the equipment.

Vigilant Teachers – Our teachers are being vigilant in sending any child to sick bay that is sick. I would like to also thank parents who are keeping their children at home when ill. Over the past two weeks, we have not had any child in our sick bay with flu-like symptoms. A great team effort between parents and teachers!

Classroom Equipment – Teachers are limiting the amount of shared equipment in the classroom. Any equipment that has to be shared is being wiped with disinfectant wipes before and after use.

Assemblies – We are currently not assembling as a whole school, however awards are still being presented to students via Zoom meetings or Google Classrooms. Students are still able to collect their awards towards a Bronze Millsy.

Meetings with Parents – As we are currently unable to meet with parents onsite, we are continuing to contact parents via phone to discuss any concerns or questions. Parents can also contact us via the school email or phone.

Extra Cleaning:

We have a cleaner in our school from 11am – 3pm every day to clean the high touch surfaces throughout the day. This includes toilets, door handles and the play equipment.

Welcome Student Teachers:

We currently have two student teachers working in our school. Welcome to Nicole Hall who is working with Mrs McLeod and Jenny Weiss who is working with Mrs Wakely. We hope they both enjoy their time with us.

Semester One Reports:

This year, due to the unique learning situation, our Semester 1 reports will look different to previous reports. The normal scale (Outstanding, High, Sound, Basic, Limited) will not be provided for student learning. We will provide parents with information on the progress of learning over Semester 1 and information about a student’s commitment to learning. The reports will also be sent home early in Term 3 rather than at the end of Term 2.

Kind Regards,

Deb Hall

OoSHC

Parents, your OoSHC service is open and operational, maintaining an increased focus on hygiene and social distancing for every family.  Pam and the team cannot wait to reconnect, whether in need of care, or as an outlet for friendships and free play to enrich children's lives.

Camp Australia informed via email from the start of Term 2 all ongoing bookings were cancelled so a fresh booking register could commence to accommodate the staggered school return.  Children must be booked in to access OSHC for staffing and ratio purposes.

Having been separated from peers for so long and now slowly returning to a rigorous learning routine, OSHC offers children the opportunity and space to explore their own interests and unleash their imaginations through trying new sports, art, craft, STEM activities and much, much more.
