GOVERNING COUNCIL

GOVERNING COUNCIL AGM 2023

Our Annual General Meeting will take place on Monday 20th February 2023 at 6.30pm in the school staffroom.

The school has a number of continuing members but will also be seeking nominations for new members. Please email shanell.bird752@schools.sa.edu.au to request a nomination form if you are interested in joining council in 2023. These need to be filled out and returned to the front office by COB on Friday 10th February 2023.

If you are interested in finding out more about the role of a Governing Council member please visit our website: https://www.westlakes.sa.edu.au/GoverningCouncil

We truly value the work that volunteers do and the difference they make. All 2023 volunteers will need to ensure they have completed the appropriate forms, Working with Children Check (WWCC) and relevant RRHAN-EC training to be compliant with the department Volunteer Policy and Processes. Michelle Fearne can be contacted if you have any queries regarding this. Online access to complete these forms is available through https://bit.ly/2Yg9dv5

NAPLAN TESTING

NAPLAN 2023

The National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) assesses literacy and numeracy skills that are essential for every child to progress through school and life. Students in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 participate in the annual NAPLAN tests in reading, writing, conventions of language (spelling, grammar and punctuation) and numeracy. The assessment provides parents and schools with an understanding of how individual students are performing at the time of the tests. NAPLAN is just one aspect of a school’s assessment and reporting process – it does not replace ongoing assessments made by teachers about student performance.

Our students in years 3 and 5 will be participating in NAPLAN Online this year. This year the NAPLAN Online test window is 15th to 27th March 2023 (weeks 7-9, term 1).

Prior to the actual test, all schools will participate in a national coordinated practice test (CPT) on Tuesday, 28th February 2023. The practice test runs for 45 minutes and student performance is not assessed. The purpose of this test is to ensure the technical capacity of the school is satisfactory and to familiarise students with the testing platform.

A privacy collection notice and parent information brochure will be sent out in the next few weeks. If you have any queries regarding NAPLAN please contact your child’s class teacher or a member of the leadership team.
