PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE

Term 3 has always been my favourite term of the year; the children are well settled into their classroom routines; we enjoy the benefits of sharing several sporting activities with our families and houses; and, we celebrate Book Week as a community. As well as this, we are fortunate to be welcoming new staff to the Scarborough PS team this term and I encourage you to take a minute to say hello and get to know them a little.

Firstly, in Room 4 we have a familiar face joining us for the term, Mrs Andree Austin. Andree worked with our Year 1/2 students for the majority of 2018 and has now joined with Emily Bell to teach the Room 4 class. Welcome back, Andree.

Secondly, we have Ms Callan Toner who is teaching in Room 1 whilst Josh Dorozenko takes on the deputy principal role for the duration of Sarah Dawson's long service leave. Callan has settled very well into Room 1 and I would like to thank the class for making her feel so welcome.

Finally, Mr Aaron Bacci has officially started as our permanent PE specialist teacher. He comes to us with some great knowledge and experience as well as bucket loads of enthusiasm. Welcome to the team, Aaron.

Aaron's first big event will be the running of the upcoming inter-school cross country on Friday 2 August. This is a great opportunity for our students to meet up with others from across our network of schools. We warmly welcome you to support our team down at Butler's Reserve from 1 pm. There will be a coffee van!

Yesterday evening, Room 9 was flooded with families coming to see the amazing work produced by our Year 5/6 class. The Night of the Notables was a showcase of the inquiry that the students had done into significant members of our indigenous community. I would like to thank the students for all of their hard work and eagerness to present, and also our families for supporting the learning with such encouragement and enthusiasm.

I wish you all a wonderful term ahead and look forward to seeing you at the many community events that take place this term. Keep an eye on the newsletter for further details. Please join me in welcoming Josh Dorozenko to the admin team - he is already doing a great job!

Deputy's Desk - PEAC Testing

At Scarborough Primary School we provide opportunities for all students to explore their full potential. One of the ways in which we do this is by providing our students with the chance to be involved in the Primary Extension and Challenge program (PEAC).

The PEAC Program provides part time extension and enrichment for exceptionally able students in Years 5 and 6.

Our Year 4 students will have the opportunity to be assessed for suitability for the 2020 PEAC Program.

Testing at Scarborough Primary School will occur during Week 3 (week starting Monday 5 August 2019)

Currently we are looking for people to volunteer their time for leadership roles, for parents that are happy to liaise and connect with classrooms teachers and parent groups, and for any social media magicians that may be interested in keeping people up to date on happenings via Facebook.

To get in touch please email: scarboroughprimarypc@gmail.com or message us through our FB page (Scarborough Primary P and C), or join us at our next meeting on Tuesday 13 August at 6.00pm in the school staff room.

Uniform Shop

The Uniform Shop has had a steady flow of people stocking up on their winter uniforms as well as parents preparing for the upcoming athletics carnival. Come in and see us for your house polo needs - we have selected sizes in the traditional, mostly cotton style and an alternative protex fabric which is the same fast drying light fabric as the sports shorts.

Back by popular demand...a small supply of smaller size (2 - 10) skorts are available for sale again from the shop.  If an item is not available from the shop such as skorts or cargo shorts, the supplier Permapleat has a shop front in their warehouse in Malaga where these items can be purchased.

The Uniform Shop is open as usual from around 8:30 - 9:00 am on Wednesday mornings.

As my daughters have relocated to a new school, the new Uniform Shop Coordinators are Sarah Firth and Kylie Hodgkinson.  They can be contacted by email at scarboroughprimaryPCuniform@gmail.com or at the Uniform Shop on Wednesday mornings.  Please go and say hi and let them know if you are available to assist in any way.

The QuickCliq system has been temporarily suspended as the new uniform shop coordinators settle into the role.

Thanks so much for all of the support you have shown for the shop and the volunteers who have assisted in the time I was the coordinator.
