Term 2 Week 3: Monday 9th May 2022

Principal's Message

How wonderful it was to be together again to celebrate Mothers on Friday! Wonderful mass, wonderful Open Classrooms, wonderful picnic, wonderful afternoon!

Thanks to our Year One team for the mass, to the students and teachers for the Open Classrooms and to you all for making it such an event for our students. Feedback was incredible about the changes made since parents were at such a gathering. The furniture, the spaces, the gates, the colours, the bathrooms, the play areas, the complete change to LED lighting and other notable upgrades really have transformed the school environment!

Very importantly, Playgroup will be able to start up again as of next week. Below is the letter from Melissa, Playgroup Coordinator. Please be sure to contact her if you intend to attend. Please also contact her if Tuesday does not suit you because we are looking at starting other days as well. We would like children who are intending to go to school at MIPS to have the opportunity to attend Playgroup on at least one day a week.

With appreciation for your ongoing support,

Stephen Dowd

Mother’s Day Celebrations 2022

After two years, we were able to welcome back our families onsite on Friday to honour all our mother figures for Mother’s Day.

We began with our beautiful whole school Mass celebrated by Father Oliver in our Church.

We held open classrooms for our families to discover some of the dynamic changes made to our learning spaces and the brilliant learning taking place with our staff and students.

We ended the day with a sunny afternoon picnic lunch with our families. We look forward to more opportunities to celebrate as a whole school community.

PARRAMATTA DIOCESAN CROSS COUNTRY 2022

Congratulations to all of our MIPS students who participated in the Diocesan Cross Country on Tuesday 3rd of May 2022 at Sydney Motorsport Park Eastern Creek.

Our students showed true athleticism and sportsmanship as they pushed to their limits to complete their races during the championships.

We have a number of students who have made it through to the NSWCPS Championships on Friday 22nd July and we are extremely proud, wishing them the best of luck on the day: Liam. P, Hadriel. F, Yavniel. F, Ella C,  Isaac G, Aviel. F, Lillian. W, Matilda. O and Alexis H

Congratulations also to our winning teams: 8/9 Years Boys; 10 Years Girls; 11 Years Boys. Their banners will be displayed proudly in our school for years to come!

Although our students were our super athletes, our parents and community were the superstars!  Thank you for coming out to support, help out and cheer on our MIPS team.

None of us, including me, ever do great things. But we can all do small things, with great love, and together we can do something wonderful. - Mother Teresa

National Walk Safely to School Day - Friday 20th May

Promotional Video

National Walk Safely to School Day is an annual, national event when all Primary School children will be encouraged to walk and commute safely to school. It is a Community Event seeking to promote Road Safety, Health, Public Transport and the Environment.

The objectives of the event are:

To encourage parents and carers to walk to school with primary school age children and reinforce safe pedestrian behaviour.

To promote the health benefits of walking and help create regular walking habits at an early age.

To ensure that children up to 10 years old hold an adult's hand when crossing the road.

To help children develop the vital road-crossing skills they will need as they become mature pedestrians.

To reduce the car dependency habits that are being created at an early age and which will be difficult to change as children become adults.

To promote the use of Public Transport.

To reduce the level of air pollution created by motor vehicles.

To reduce the level of traffic congestion.

Join in the fun and Walk Safely to School on Friday 20th May!

Counsellor's Message

The e-safety commissioner offers some excellent resources to support our children’s online experience.

I have attached a schedule of webinars in 2022. The May seminar will be about parental controls, an area that parents often mention to me when attempting to moderate screen time for their children.

I hope that you find these useful!

Learning at MIPS

Calling all MIPS environmentalists!

We are joining the wonderful people at Wonderwhite to recycle our soft plastics and earn play equipment for our school.

What you can do:

Collect your bread bags (does not have to be the Wonderwhite brand) and drop them into the collections bins that will be appearing around the school in early June.

For every 5kg recycling bin filled, MIPS will earn rewards points redeemable for new sports equipment.

The winning school will also win an exercise circuit made from recycled plastic. Get collecting!
