We were blessed with a beautiful spring day yesterday for our Faction Athletics Carnival. Thank you to everyone who contributed in some small or large way to make the day a success. In particular, I wish to thank the staff for all their hard work both before and at the carnival, the parents who helped at the carnival, those who helped with setting up and those responsible for organising lunch. A big thank you to Mrs Crees for putting the day together and the students for their leadership, sportsmanship and participation. Congratulations to St Joseph's who won the Marching Shield and Salvatorians for being the winning faction.
Our fathers, grandfathers and significant males took part in a Liturgy this morning which was led by our Year Six leaders and was followed by a lovely morning tea. Thank you to Mrs Riethmuller and Mrs O'Malley who put the morning together and to Fr Andrew who joined us and gave all the men a special blessing ahead of their day on Sunday.
CSPA 2022 Parent Survey on Student Wellbeing and Learning
Have your say on what matters regarding the wellbeing and learning of your child. For example, has COVID or your partnership with the school affected your child’s wellbeing and learning? If you are a parent or carer with a child in a Catholic school, CSPA would love to hear from you. Click on the survey link and share your feedback to assist CSPA in reporting to the Federal Government and Catholic education. Your feedback will remain anonymous.
Continuation of the Canteen is under review for 2023 onwards due to a combination of factors, including but not limited to: cost of freight, increased cost of goods and low patronage by the St Mary's community. The School Advisory Council and the Canteen Committee (which has been in place for twelve months and has parent representation) are considering a range of options moving forward.
Our next P&F Meeting will be held on Monday, 5 September at 7.30pm in the Library. All are welcome to attend to support the P&F in all that they do.
Learning Journeys are scheduled to take place at St Mary’s School on Tuesday, 13 September for all students from Kindy to Year Six. Learning Journeys are part of our school’s reporting and assessment schedule. They complement the school’s reporting and parent-teacher interview processes. During this event, which is similar to an open night, your children will take ownership of the sharing of work that they have done this term. There is a more directed discussion about the learning that takes place between the student and their parents/caregivers. The student also has a plan about which pieces of work they will show and tell their parents/caregivers about. Sometimes the parents/caregivers and children may work together on a problem or an activity. While your child’s class teacher will be in the room – the Learning Journey is between the child and their family. This is not a time to discuss your child’s progress with their teacher – if you wish to do this, please make a separate time to do so. Learning Journeys will commence at 3.20pm and conclude at 6.00pm. Families are welcome to come in as they wish during this time.
All St Mary's families are invited to join the Year One to Year Six students on Monday, 19 September at 10.15am as we celebrate and remember former student, Emmett Tayler, who tragically passed away last year. The memorial will take place in the nature playground. We will be joined by Emmett's dad, step-mum and grandmother.
To ensure that we make the right decisions in relation to staffing and the split classes for next year, please advise the school (by emailing me directly at adriana.coniglio@cewa.edu.au) if your child/children will not be returning to St Mary’s in 2023. This doesn’t apply to current Year Six students.
School photos will take place in Week One of next term on Thursday 13th October. Information has been sent home with students today. Kindergarten and students who were away today will receive it next week. More information attached to the end of the Bulletin.
Wishing all the St Mary’s dads, granddads and significant males a wonderful day of rest, relaxation and pampering on Sunday! I’m sure that your children will make sure that you know how loved and special you are!
We offer the Sutherland families (Elijah - Year 6, Ruby Smith - Year 4 and Clancy - Year 3) our sincerest condolences on the passing of their mother and grandmother, Anne Sutherland. May Anne Rest In Peace and may perpetual light shine upon her.
