From the Principal

Dear Parents and Carers,

Fresh and rested students and staff returned from the 4 day long weekend on Tuesday.  Classes attendance numbers are the highest we have had in quite a while.

We have a number of exciting events coming up before the end of term.  We have our annual Book Week Dress Up Day next Tuesday closely followed by the 3/4 outdoor adventure camp at Roses Gap next Thursday and Friday.  Then on September 2nd we have our Father's Day Breakfast.  Make sure you get your breakfast orders in on time.

Our Year 5/6 Hoop Time teams represented our school well on Tuesday.  While the results were mixed, we can celebrate their determination and good sportsmanship.

Kind regards,

Olga Lyons, Principal

5/6 Hooptime

St Pat’s Hooptimers were at it again at the Warrnambool Basketball Stadium last Tuesday.  Year 5/6 students competed in 5 different teams throughout the day as we experienced all the emotions of winning, losing and drawing games.

Our All Star Girls won 2 of their 3 games to play off in a Grand Final with St Patrick’s Koroit Primary School.  It was the second time these girls met on the day and on both occasions the Koroit girls proved too strong.  Our girls victories over 2 Port Fairy Consolidated School teams were strong wins.

Our All Star Boys team had 1 win out of their 4 matches for the day defeating Koroit and District Primary School.  In 3 other games, the boys tried hard but fell short to St Pat’s Koroit and 2 PFCS teams.

Future Stars 2 caused all sorts of excitement for the day with two, come from behind, nail biting draws and two defeats to Woolsthorpe and SPK.

Future Stars 1 finished with a record of 2 wins, 1 loss and their own nail biting draw as well.  Future Stars 1 were defeated twice by PFCS, drew with Woolshorpe but won comfortably over Koroit and District Primary School. Our ‘Rookies’ team were our day's highlight with four wins from four games, defeating PFCS twice, Woolsthorpe and Koroit.

It was a great day and the children represented themselves and their school very well.

On Tuesday we went to the 5/6 Hooptime, we were in the All Star girls team. In our team there was Lena, Emily, Alice, Lucy, Lylah, Meghan and Dusty. We played 4 games that day. Our first game was against Port Fairy Consolidated and we won! Then we played St Patrick's Koroit. Unfortunately we lost but we played our best. We played Consolidated again, it was very close, then we won. We made it into the Grand final, which was against St Patrick's Koroit. We lost but played very well. It was a great, fun day and we loved playing basketball against all the other schools! Thanks to the teachers who took us, Tom who was our coach and especially Mr Greene who organised the whole thing for our school!

By Lena & Emily

On Tuesday we went to Warrnambool for Hooptime. On the All Stars boys team were Hamish, Jack, Spencer, Harry, Cooper, Lenny and Blake. We defeated Koroit District in our first game, we won by 7 points. In our next game we played against Port Fairy Consolidated School, it was a very close game and Consolidated ended up winning by 1 point. Next we played against St Pat’s Koroit, this was another tense game and once again we lost by 1 point. In our final game we played against the other Consolidated School team and lost by 12 points. In the end we won 1 game and lost 3.
