This Term In Review

2019 School Leaders

Introducing our 2019 School Captains

After a vigorous application process our 2019 School Captains were voted in. Well done to our new School Captain Ali and our Vice Captains Tommy and Jason. Congratulations!

These students are now the voice and face of our students and school, we know they will do us proud!

Swimming Carnival 2018

Tuesday 11th Dec we held our annual swimming carnival. The  sheer determination of the students that got in the pool was fantastic! The day involved multiple races that both staff and students participated in. We also had a lovely BBQ lunch which was very tasty and perfect to help refuel after the races.

Thank you to our PE team who organised the day, our teachers and students manning the food, staff who assisted in the water and to all others that played a part in the day.

Math Support Program

The Elementary Math Mastery Program is now running with ten Year 9 students and five Year 10 students and this will continue into 2019. Next year we will also offer the program to Years 7-8 students who need extra help with numeracy.

The students in the program are withdrawn from class three times a week by Mrs Carzo and Miss Nicholson-Lake for twenty minutes. They are assessed for progress at regular intervals and their results have shown their ongoing numeracy development. We have been very proud of their progress and we hope to see their ongoing commitment to the program next year as well!!

For the Year 10 boys in the program now, this is a great help before they enter College 1 Mathematics next year. If you need more information about the program, Mrs Carzo will be happy to talk to you.

ABCN Scholarship Success

Congratulations to David, our 2018 ABCN Australian Business and Community Network Scholar.  David attended a ceremony on Monday 19th November, hosted by Commonwealth Bank Innovation

Lab, where he received his Scholarship Award. His scholarship will begin January 2019 and will continue for 3 years (Yr 11, 12 & first year of uni), providing him with financial assistance ($7000) and linking him with a professional mentor that will guide him in setting and achieving goals.  There were only 30 successful students of 300 applicants, nation wide. This is a fantastic step forward in a very successful future!

Communication Partner Initiative

Congratulations to the boys who participated in in the 2018 "Communication Partner" initiative with

Warwick Farm Primary School. This program is organised and supervised by Ms Campbell each year as a way of creating peer assisted learning between students from Year 9 and Kindergarten.

WSW Cup Finals

Congratulations to the Junior Footballers who competed in November at the WSW Cup Finals at Blacktown Football Park, against the best teams from all of Western Sydney.  The boys put in a massive effort, well done!

Liverpool Domestic Violence Awareness Collaboration

Moving into 2019

Return and Earn

Coming into Liverpool Boys High School in 2019, the Return and Earn program is rolling in. The program is being introduced to fundraise for school activities. The NSW container deposit scheme, Return and Earn, began rolling out across NSW on 1 December 2017 and will be introduced to Liverpool Boys High School in 2019 and everyone has a role to play. Drink container litter makes up 44% of the volume of all litter in the state and costs more than $162 million to manage. Return and Earn is the largest litter reduction scheme introduced in NSW, and will help meet the Premier's goal of reducing the volume of litter in the state by 40% by 2020. Along with this, it will help to raise funds for school activities in 2019.

For more information please see Ms Tucker.

Homework Centre

Homework Centre is available every Wednesday in the library from 3:06pm-4:30pm. This is great if you could do with some additional help in class work, homework and assignments. UTS Tutors will be available to assist in what they can. It's a friendly environment & students from any grade are welcome. Please see Ms Abboud if you have any questions.

P.S- Drinks and nibbles are provided!
