PRINCIPAL'S NEWS

Dear Parents

Harmony Week Monday March 16th to Friday March 2oth

As explained in a letter that went home last week, due to swimming we are unable to have our Orange and Traditional Dress Day during the celebration of Harmony Week.

Because this is such an important day for us we have had discussions about when this could best be held.

On Wednesday, March 11, the Year 5’s in D2 will be introducing us to Harmony Week through their Assembly and it would seem appropriate that we have the Cultural Day the following day.

Orange and Traditional Dress Day

When – Thursday March 12th

Time – 8.45am

Where – Undercover Area

Children will move to the Undercover area as per a normal Assembly and class by class be invited out to parade across the stage.

Kind regards,

Darryl Dedman

HEALTHY TIPS

Keeping children healthy

HANDWASHING

Washing hands is the easiest way to protect ourselves from contagious diseases, like colds, influenza and gastroenteritis. Hands should be washed before and after eating or preparing food, after going to the toilet and after nose blowing.

When teaching your child to wash their hands:

·         Use clean water and soap, making sure they cover their hands and wrists.

·         Use a brush to clean under nails if they’re dirty too

·         Dry their hands with something clean (like a paper towel)

Alcohol based sanitisers are useful when soap and water is not available. Use half a teaspoon of the product and encourage your child to rub their hands together until they’re dry. If you can see dirt on their hands, it is better to use soap and water. P & C NEWS

UNIFORM SHOP

The next uniform open day will be the 27th March from 8.15 - 8.45am

Remember the uniform shop is run by volunteers, without helpers there may be some waiting involved.  Please consider volunteering your time, 30 minutes once monthly during term time.

You can still order standard uniform items via the Qkr! app and by paper order form through the office on non-open days.

Volunteers

We have had a number of regular helpers whose children have now left us for high school and I would like to invite *new* volunteers to assist me with the running of the uniform shop.  (I still want you if you have helped once or twice!).  Training will be provided. Please email Rawlinson.uniforms@gmail.com if you are interested in volunteering on open days!

Back Orders/ Out of stock

We are still out of stock of size 4, 6 &10 polo shirts, size small bucket hats, size 4 Microfiber shorts, Size 6 & size 10 fleece jackets, more of you have been ordering these since the wet weather last week!.

Delivery is due for the Polos in mid-March, I am waiting on an update.  When it does arrive, it is a small order as we had received part of this order already.  I will post notice of their arrival on our School bag, under Uniform News, on Face book and in the weekly newsletter any Backorders we have will be delivered to your child's classroom.  Other items will be coming in term 2.

Second hand uniforms

If you have any (clean) uniforms that you would like to donate, including shorts/skorts or bike shorts, please drop them off to the box near the canteen, or to the Uniform Shop on days that we are open.  This means you can buy good quality, second hand items at a fraction of the price of new items, and is extra helpful since our order has been delayed.  Please black out any names prior to dropping them off. Second hand items will only be available for purchase through the Uniform Shop on the days when it is open.  The non uniform shop Items will go to the office for those “accident days”.  All of the money made from second hand uniforms will be fed back into the school.
