Anaphylaxis and Asthma
All students who are identified as requiring an EpiPen or require asthma preventers/relievers are required to provide the school with a management plan completed by your child’s GP. You must meet with the School Principal to complete an Individual Health Care Plan.
Staff training
All staff are provided with annual CPR, emergency management and EpiPen training administered by certified trainers.
Nut Products
We ask that all families assist us to support students with allergies through not packing nut based foods and spreads in children’s lunches.
Administration of Medication
Parents/carers of students needing prescribed medication during the day at school for a short-term complaint must make arrangements in writing for this to be administered. The principal, student’s class teacher and the office staff must be informed. A permission form must be completed by the parent and signed by the principal / assistant principal prior to any medication being administered at school. If a long-term medical or allergy condition requiring medication exists, parents must provide information in writing outlining the nature of the drug, the appropriate dosage, use and possible side effects.
All medications must be provided to the school by the parent in the original packaging. Students are not to bring medication to school.
Students who routinely administer medications themselves for conditions such as asthma, diabetes, epilepsy etc will be supervised by a class teacher at the school as negotiated between the teacher, parent and Principal. The parent will provide the school with an action plan.
Sickness and Accidents
Health issues in schools are extremely important. Parents are therefore asked to cooperate in complying with any requests from the school concerning health issues. When children become ill during school time, parents will be contacted and asked to collect their child.
Occasionally children do have accidents and first aid is given. In the case of serious accidents an ambulance is called. Parents are notified immediately.
School Counsellor
The Department of Education provides a student counselling service for students who are experiencing learning or behavioural difficulties. Additionally the counsellor advises on students with diagnosed disabilities where the aim is to ensure that adjustments are made to facilitate equitable and successful access to the mainstream academic program. Access to the counsellor is by referral after consultation with the learning and support team.
The next P&C Meeting is Week 3, Thursday 13th February at 7pm in Mrs Deacon’s Classroom.
A lot can and has been achieved through the P&C and school working together towards common goals. Membership really does matter and by joining our P&C you can add your voice to what’s happening in the school.
Over the past twelve months the P&C has continued to provide significant financial support to the school. The P&C has supported a range of events to build community and benefit all students. Together we have established long term goals towards revitalising and enhancing our school environment. This includes supporting the development of our Masterplan and establishing a building fund.
Sutton Public School will proudly celebrate its sesquicentenary in 2021 – only 12 months away. We look forward to working closely with the P&C and members of our broader school community in planning a year of celebrations worthy of the amazing achievement of reaching our 150th year. The more people involved, the more exciting and successful our year of celebrations will be.
Our P&C needs people from all walks of life, from all parts of our community with a range of talents who are committed to delivering great outcomes for their children and school.
Are you interested in contributing your thoughts on school policy? Do you have a great idea for our 2020 school fair or our 150th celebrations? Do you have a spare hour or two when you can help out in the canteen, to help at an event like the Mother’s Day breakfast, Athletics Carnival or Winter Disco? Can you find an hour and a half, once a month to attend a P&C meeting?
These are all ways you can be part of your school’s P&C. Just by joining your P&C, you can add your voice to what’s happening in our school.
Everybody has a role to play and your ideas will be heard. Participating in P&C activities can also help you to form friendships with other parents/carers and feel a part of your school and help us strengthen our sense of community.
Remember: the things you do make a real difference, so why not attend our meeting this Thursday evening and be part of a dynamic and representative P&C Association.
Our Year 6 students will be opening the Ice Cream Shed every Monday and Wednesday during first half of lunch.
There will be yummy fruit flavoured, frozen yoghurt on sale to cool students down during the hot summer term.
Price is $1. Limited to 1 serving per customer.
