Term 4 Week 1

Message from the Principal

Welcome back to school!! It is great to see more sunshine even though that rain still persists in hanging around. Term four is always a very busy time with all of the end of year events, celebrations, reports and the planning and preparation for the year ahead. Please check our school calendar regularly to ensure that you have the most up to date information regarding school events.

This first week has been full of amazing activities. Dance 2b Fit lessons started on Monday for all students. This program provides essential learning from our Creative Arts and PEHPD curriculum. The instructors were very impressed with the enthusiasm and capabilities shown by students during their first lessons. It is sure to be an amazing end of year concert.

Spanish classes continue this term on Tuesday mornings before school. Mrs Foligni has a great time teaching students language and culture and I know the students really enjoy the end of term celebrations involving yummy food.

Also on Tuesday, I accompanied a selection of our Koori dancers as they joined with students from Ashcroft Public School and Wollongong High School of the Performing Arts to share culture through dance and song at NSWRL Headquarters. Our students demonstrated great leadership and confidence as they made new connections and celebrated culture. Well done, to you all, and to Mr Santos, Miss Kensey and Uncle Darren for their support.

Thursday, after school, I had the privilege of presenting some awards as a school sponsor at the Northern Illawarra Aboriginal Education Consultative Group Deadly Awards. Mr Santos also presented awards on the behalf of our P&C who also sponsor this event. It was a great afternoon to acknowledge and celebrate Aboriginal students in schools from the Lake Illawarra North, Wollongong and Wollongong North networks. One of our students also received an award for their commitment towards learning and cultural achievement. Congratulations, Lacey Stevenson!! Lacey will receive her Deadly Award and Medal at next week's assembly. Parents and carers are invited to attend our fortnightly assemblies this term.

School Run4Fun Colour Explosion

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Thank you so much for supporting our school, especially through fundraising. This term, we are hosting a Colour Explosion School Fun Run to help us fundraise for Year Six farewell and gift to the school. To achieve our goal, we need to raise $2000 as a school community.

When is the Colour Explosion School Fun Run? We will be hosting our Colour Explosion School Fun Run on Friday 28 October from 2pm to 2:40pm. Make sure students bring a WHITE shirt to wear during the Fun Run. They will be covered in non-toxic, biodegradable colour powder from head to toe!

Is the powder safe? The non-toxic colour powder is made of high-quality corn starch and permitted food colours, so it’s safe for skin and eyes. Students with asthma are advised to be careful in their decision to participate.

How does my child fundraise? Fundraising is easy – simply follow the instructions outlined in your child’s sponsorship booklet. Your child can accept donations online by creating a cybersafe fundraising profile at www.australianfundraising.com.au . You can also collect cash donations with your sponsorship booklet. Please return your donations before 21 October 2022.

Raise more! Earn more! Students automatically achieve incentive prizes as they fundraise, starting from $10. Each prize is ordered automatically, so you don’t need to worry about prize ordering! You can see what the incentive prizes are in the attached sponsorship booklet.

Share in $200,000 worth of extra prize credit! Achieve bigger prizes by helping your child earn bonus credit on their online profile. By creating an avatar, sharing your page with friends and reaching milestone donations, you can share in $200,000 of extra prize credit!

Monstar Madness. There are heaps of prizes you can win when you fun-raise with Monty! Create your fundraising page in the next 7 days, and you will receive a Holographic Monty Sticker! Check out your sponsorship booklet for more awesome Monty prizes up for grabs, like a Monty Plush toy, a bag tag or a high-bounce handball!

Win a $10,000 JB Hi-Fi Shopping Spree. Do you think you can top our school’s leader board? The highest fundraising student in our school will go into the draw to win a $10,000 JB Hi-Fi Shopping Spree, including your choice of televisions, laptops, phones, home accessories and more!
