St John the Baptist Ferntree Gully Newsletter

Today we welcomed our new staff as they joined us for our staff professional development day and planning for Term 1 2023.  Days like today are incredibly valuable as they allow us to work together, sharing ideas and practice, so that each of us can continue to grow professionally and ensure that we continue to strengthen our shared understanding and vision for learning and teaching at St John the Baptist.   

We feel very spoilt by our P&F who provided the staff with a delicious lunch to say thankyou for their ongoing work with their children.  The staff felt so appreciated by our wonderful parents.  It is incredibly humbling to be thanked in such a generous way by such a hard working committee.  Thank you to all in our community who care for us and show their appreciation in so many ways.

Our P&F will be holding their AGM next Monday 21st November at 7pm in the staff room.  If you have been thinking about joining our P&F please  come and join us as all are welcome! 

Our Year 3-6 children will be participating in a cyber safety session facilitated by a member of the Victorian Police.  We have been very fortunate to secure both a parent night and student sessions this year and are very appreciative of the facilitators who have volunteered their time to support us in this very important work. 

The student session is booked for Wednesday 30th November.

A very big thankyou to Michelle Loughron and Priya Hall for organising a committee to help plan for our Year 6 graduation.  

Below are some important dates for your diary:

• Wednesday 14th December will be the last day for Year 6 students with an assembly and  guard of honour at 12:30pm.

• Graduation Mass will be held at 5pm on this day followed by a celebration for Year 6 students in our school hall.

Speeches and voting for Leadership positions will occur in the week beginning  Monday 5th December.

All other students will finish school on Thursday 15th December

The staff at Ferntree Gully Library are delighted to invite St John's families and children to the Library for a Christmas Story Celebration which will be held on Tuesday December 6th 2022.

It is hoped that the children from St John's will perform Christmas songs at this event. St John's School Choir has performed at this event for over twenty years.

This year, all children from Years Prep to Year 6 are invited to join our 2022 Library Choir.

Mrs Costa will hold singing practice every Wednesday at first recess to prepare the Christmas songs for the Library celebration.
