ICAS Assessments

Dear Parents of the ICAS Assessments Participants,As you know the sitting dates for the ICAS assessments are now later than previous years and the payments are made directly to ICAS online. Wyong PS has 3 possible dates to choose from to administer each assessment. Years 2 to 6 will sit each assessment on the same school day just at different times.

As the ICAS mathematics dates clashed with the Stage 3 Canberra excursion, we have been permitted by ICAS to run that test earlier than advertised on their website. All the years from 2 to 6 will sit this test on Friday the 13th of September. Please note the Wyong sitting dates below. ICAS assessments are now done on computer so will only be administered on the dates we have chosen.

Kinder Report

Welcome back to Term 3. This term is going to be a very busy one with a lot of exciting things happening.

Kicking off the term we had our Parent Information Session for Kindergarten Transition. A big thank you to all the parents/ carers who attended. It was lovely to meet you all and get acquainted.

If you have children or know of someone in our community with children that would be starting school next year, please come to our school office and pick up an enrolment form. You will require three forms of identification- a birth certificate, proof of address and your child’s immunisation record. All legal requirements from the department.

Our transition program Leap into Learning starts next term so it is very important to get enrolled as soon as possible. This is an 8 week program designed to transition students into Kindergarten and is a very worthwhile program for school readiness.

Kinder will also be involved in our Public Speaking competition this term which is very exciting. We are getting organised with learning about speaking to an audience and building our self-confidence. Parent involvement and support is very important and we appreciate your efforts.

Later on in the term will be going on our first excursion. Notes have gone out and we are getting very excited. Please make sure that money and permission notes are returned before the due date so your child does not miss out.

The Art Show is also coming up this term and this will be our first time exhibiting our work. We encourage all families to attend to see the great work produced not only by kinder students but the whole school.

The iCentre (library) has visiting authors coming to see us this term.  And our famous Book Parade will also take place. Start thinking about your child’s costume as it is a great opportunity to dress up and have some fun.

The Life Education Van is also making a visit this term and all classes will get to meet Healthy Harold and visit his van.

As I mentioned, it is a crazy busy term and it will be important to keep checking our website, class dojo and newsletters for updates and notices.

If you need confirmation of any notes, dates etc, please check with your child’s classroom teacher.

Stage 3 Oztag Gala Day

On Wednesday Ms Davies and Mrs Freers had the pleasure of taking 2 teams of Stage 3 students to the new sporting fields at Tuggerah to participate in the Central Coast Oztag Gala Day. 32 teams in both the boys and girls competitions from public schools to independent schools competed on the day.

The students played 4 games each, displaying both skill and great sportsmanship. Super impressive tagging and some awesome tries were displayed on the day. We unfortunately didn’t make the quarter finals but well done boys and girls on a very successful day.

A big thank you to the many parents who attended the day and supported our students and staff. It was certainly a great day out for our students.
