REPORT WRITING DAY - STUDENT FREE

A reminder that Monday is a student free day. Teachers will use this day for writing reports. I trust that you make full use of the four-day weekend with Tuesday being the Melbourne Cup Public Holiday.

SCHOOL FETE

I can now confirm that the date for the school fete is November 11th 2022. This will commence at 4:30 and finish up at 7:30 pm. Please consider getting a team of three people together for the running of the Dimmy Dash.

For the 16 and Under teams ( 3 people per team) 

Primary school kids, if you have teams made up you can bring the names and the $6 to the front office at anytime and we will add you to the list.

School fete Team event 3 people per team - 2 categories: 7:00 - 16 and under $6 per team, $60 for winning team depending upon the number of entries (age as at the day of the event) 7:30 - Over 16 $15 entry and winner $250 for winning team (depending upon the number of entries)

Competitor one eats a pie and drinks a drink, run up and back approximately 20 metres tagging competitor two.


Competitor two

puts on the jockey outfit and pick up hobby horse (broom stick), hold broom above your head spin around 3 times jump over the hobby horse, they then run to the other end and return. they link arms with competitor two and run back to back to the other end and back, they tag competitor three

Competitor three

puts on the jockey outfit and eats a dry full salada as quickly as they can. Then the three competitors complete a series of leap-frog to the finish line.

HOUSE PUBLIC SPEAKING

Students in 3,4,5 and 6 are busy putting the finishing touches on their speeches for the House Public Speaking Competition this year. The students have researched topics to do with Australian History and are this week presenting to their class groups. Next week the students will speak to their Houses with four students being selected to represent their house at the final on Friday 4th November. All families are welcome to attend either the House level of competition or the Final.


I asked a few children about their speech topics and asked for one fact. Here is what they told me:


COVID-19 isolation requirements have changed

The Victorian Government has announced the end of the Pandemic Declaration and associated Pandemic Orders.

The following settings, based on advice from the Department of Health, will apply from 11.59pm Wednesday 12 October 2022.

It is strongly recommended that students:

· who test positive to COVID-19 stay home and isolate for 5 days

· should not attend school after 5 days if still symptomatic

· who are symptomatic but have not tested positive should not attend school

· advise the school of the COVID-19 positive test result

Where students become symptomatic at school they should:

· be collected by their parents/carers

· undergo testing for COVID-19

It is strongly recommended that staff:

· who test positive to COVID-19 stay home and isolate for 5 days

· should not attend after 5 days if still symptomatic

· who are symptomatic but have not tested positive should not attend school

· report their positive test result to the school and through eduPay

Attention Year 6 Parents

A message regarding the year 6 students who may need to be fitted for a uniform next year at DMSC. If you could please see John at Mensland by Saturday 5th November that would be great. No payment necessary until pick up.

Day For Daniel - Wear RED This Friday 28th October

This Friday everyone is asked to wear something RED. School uniform is still required, but please add some red, being it a scrunchie, red socks, red tie ,scarf etc 

The year six girls will be coming around to the classrooms to give a talk about keeping kids safe.

ENROLMENT FORMS FOR PREP 2023 ARE NOW BEING ACCEPTED

Prep enrolments are now being accepted for 2023. The enrolment pack may be collected from the front office, with Kate or Kelly being available to assist with any questions you may have. As you can imagine staffing is dependent upon enrolment figures so the sooner, we are able to finalise student numbers, the sooner we can get our staffing sorted out for next year.

Mosquitoes are about - It may be good for the kids to have some spray if they are continually getting bitten or some cream to relieve the itching. Ice packs are available from the front office

Lunches

Just a friendly reminder that if your child has forgotten their lunch , please let the office staff know as early as possible so we can arrange something for you and have it ready when the lunch bell goes.

BREAKFAST CLUB is running Every morning of the week from 8:30am outside the canteen. Thank you to the Parents club volunteers.

 

LUNCH ORDERS

Could lunch orders please be clearly labelled with the correct teacher/class 

 It needs to be easily read and placed in the correct lunch order tubs.

BUS PERMISSION NOTES

A reminder to families to return their bus permission notes in order for their child/ren to travel on the bus. This outlines rules of bus travel. It is my hope that all children will follow the rules outlined in order to keep everyone safe travelling to and from school.

 

Lost and Found

There are a number of items in the main building near the canteen that have been found in the yard. If you have lost something please go and have a look to see if it belongs to you.

School Mornings - Just a reminder that no children should be at school before 8:30am We have no staff supervision until then, thank you

Could parents/carers please check your child's hair regularly and treat when needed. Thankyou

Remember to bring in your raffle tickets you have sold, if you need more they are in the office. They will also be available on the night of the fete to purchase, thank you.
