Term 4 Week 9: 5th - 9th December 2022

Principal's Blog

Welcome to Week 9 Term 4

As we come closer to the end of year things always become busy. Yesterday Stage 2 had their party day. We had lots of tired children and staff with everyone reporting a great day. Today we welcome parents into the school for kindergarten graduation day. All our Kinder students have made amazing gains both academically and socially through this year and I congratulate them all. Tomorrow is Band Presentation Night where our band students will be recognised for their achievements and Friday is our Year 6 Fun Day.

Next week it continues with the K-2 party day on Monday, Stage 3 party day, Year 6 farewell Wednesday evening and Presentation Day Thursday!

Make My Day!

Today I was lucky enough to have a visit from a very clever young man. Corben from 5/6P not only brought his 3-digit additions (with carrying) to share with me but also correctly completed one for us. We were also treated to his latest story. Great job Corben you are amazing us all!

Year 6 vs Teachers Wall Ball

The teachers were victorious against the mighty Year 6 students in Mystery Ball.  Thanks to Ms Johns for organising the event.

Grow Your Mind

Another strength you can grow is LEADERSHIP

Showing LEADERSHIP means inspiring others by being

respectful and confident in group situations in the

classroom, on the playground or at home.

When we show LEADERSHIP we use our WISE OWL.

This strength is important for our mental health because we feel proud when we inspire someone.

    You can display LEADERSHIP by:

  • being fair when deciding what to do as a group and listening to each person
  • coming up with a game and organizing others to play in a respectful way

Set yourself a ‘LEADERSHIP’ challenge today!

Borrowing has stopped for the term and the library is closed in Week 10.

We have had a wonderful year in the library, filled with lots of new books and exciting events.

Congratulations to all students who completed the Premier’s Reading Challenge this year. Amazingly, lots of students are in their fourth year of completing the challenge. These students will receive their gold certificate this year: Nixon B, Aaden B, Stefan C, Ace, C, Darcy F, Lily H, Tobias H, Cairo J, Flynn L, Stella L, Jarvis M, Josie M, Amelia R, Gracie S and Brodey T. Special mention to Tahli J for completing 6 years of the challenge thus far!

I would like to say thank you to all the families who purchased books through our Scholastic Book Club this year. As a result of your continual support, our school has received an astonishing amount of money from the rewards program which we will use to purchase new and exciting books for our library. We appreciate and look forward to your continual support in 2023.

Canteen 2023

As we plan for a big year in 2023, we still have a few vacancies on our volunteer roster  – in particular we are looking for people to help out on Thursdays and Fridays.  If you can spare 2 days a term, your support would be greatly appreciated – it is not to complicated, you are only needed for 4 hours and our customers are super friendly and very cute!  New to the school – a great way to meet people?  Get a group of friends together and catch up once a month. If you can help, please see Jo in the canteen or email us – cavescanteen@gmail.com
