However, some of us were lucky enough have our parents or carers there to pin our badges on us, which made us feel full of pride. We are all very grateful for being elected into our positions.

Class Information Sessions

Thank you to all the families who were able to come along for our Class Information sessions last week. Class teachers provided some general information about their classroom curriculum and routines ahead of individual parent teacher interviews that will take place in March. We hope that you found the sessions useful and answered some of your questions.

Please remember, our teachers are happy to help out with information at any time, if you can't catch your child’s teacher after class, just call or email through the Office and we will get back to you.

Pick Up and Go

Please remember to register at the Office for our "Pick Up and Go" program. Pick Up and Go is available on Bronwen Avenue from 3pm each afternoon. By prior arrangement with the school, parents with a designated sign have the ability to pull in, have their child/ren escorted to their vehicle by a staff member and depart.

When you register you will be given a sign to display in the front left side of your car’s windscreen.  please make sure this sign is clearly visible. The Executive Staff member supervising Pick Up & Go will call your child/ren as your vehicle approaches the kerb and then escort them safely into your car. If your child/ren has not arrived at the Pick Up & Go area when you arrive, we ask that you do a lap of the block.

Please remember this is a strictly no parking area.

Term Costs

Our Term Cost Sheets have been distributed for Term One. This invoice details the planned costs for first term/semester one. The Sports in School levy is a new cost for 2020 at $25 per term ($50 per semester). Providing a high quality teaching program with fun and engaging equipment the SISA program provides excellent PDHPE lessons for our students while providing opportunities for our staff to work collaboratively focusing on enhancing their knowledge and skills in providing the very best in the classroom for each and every student. This is such an important opportunity for our staff that we have committed a large portion of our school budget to cover half the cost for families.

The Resource fee goes towards our student subscriptions to Mathletics, Reading Eggs, Read Theory, Sunshine Online and the School Magazine. Unlike many schools, at EPS we do not request payment for ‘book packs’ or stationery items.

As always, please contact the school Office for assistance if you have any concerns around payments

P&C Meeting Tonight

Our first P&C Meeting of 2020 will be held this evening, Monday 17th February, in the staffroom beginning at 6:30pm.

The P&C plays a vital role and contributes directly to our school and students. With the AGM coming up next month, now is a great time to join this fun and friendly group and work collaboratively towards our goal of providing excellence in everything for everyone.

Shrek: The Musical Excursion

Students from Eleebana Public School woke up early in the morning on Wednesday 5 February, ready to go to Sydney. When we arrived at school we were separated into two buses and put with our friends. It took the buses a few moments to start and when they finally did, everyone was excited and ready to go. The chatter was deafening!

When we arrived, we saw a huge theatre with a picture advertising Shrek. We made our way to a park where we had lunch before the show. Most of the girls were frightened by a bin chicken (ibis) that was trying to steal our food. Once we had eaten, we were allowed to have a play. Afterwards, we were let into the theater. It was humongous! We went up many steps and put our bags away into a corner. We found our seats and waited...the musical was about to begin!

It started with Shrek and some other characters poking their heads through a book and singing a song about when they were 7. The musical was based on the original ‘Shrek’ movie where an ogre named Shrek becomes best friends with a donkey. They then go save the beautiful princess Fiona who is guarded by a dragon; princess Fiona has a secret, at night she turns into an ogre. At the end, Shrek marries Fiona and she becomes an ogre permanently. The character Lord Farquad had really short puppet legs and looked funny when he danced and donkey was hilarious! The costumes were awesome and the singing and acting was very inspiring for Year 6 with Production sneaking up.

On the bus ride home we stopped at McDonalds and everybody rushed to the counter to fill their starving stomachs. Once back on the bus, we settled in and got souvenir tickets. Shrek was awesome and we hope to do something similar again!

Parents/caregivers can choose to enrol their child into SRE or to withdraw their child from SRE. Students withdrawn from SRE engage in alternative meaningful activities. A parent/caregiver may at any time notify the school in writing that they do not wish their child to attend SRE or to change their SRE nomination. Students are to continue in the same arrangement as the previous year, unless a parent/caregiver has requested a change.

Debating

On Tuesday, the 2020 Stage Three Debating Team attended a workshop at Valentine Public School. The team consists of: Jasmine L, Zac C, Annabelle C, Anisha R, Layla KB, Lily C, Rosie C and Felix M. We all had a great day and learnt lots of new skills and strategies. We started the day going over basic debating rules and defining the 'Matter, Method, Manner' concepts. We then moved on to more complex debating concepts such as rebuttal, topic definition and appropriate argument structure. After that, we played a few games. We had to decide which one rule/law we would invent and convince everyone why Shaun Mendes deserved the only parachute on a crashing plane that was full of celebrities. We finished the day practising arguments and rebuttals in a mock debate against each other.

It was a great experience and we are looking forward to our first debate next term .
