Principal's Message

Dear Parents and Caregivers,

Congratulations to all year 6 students for following our PBL expectations at Point Wolstoncroft. A great time was had by all. Special thanks go to our staff who attended the camp to support Year 6 students.

Thanks to parents being so patient with our new exit procedures, including Kiss and Ride. This process will be refined as time goes on. Just a reminder to parents that only one student is allowed at one time in the front of the queue. Parents are encouraged to place their blue student name tags on the passenger visor to help staff identify students and have them ready for pick up.

NAPLAN is coming up in week 8. Staff are preparing students in Year 3 & 5 to take the assessments. Please ensure your child eats a hearty breakfast before each assessment.

Cross Country and K-2 funrun is this Friday the 10th March at the school. We welcome parents on site to support their children from 11.30am. Please bring chairs, blankets and picnic lunch to enjoy with your children.

Kindergarten have settled well this term. Year 6 buddies have enjoyed spending time with them.

Mrs Jackie Howard

Early Stage 1 Highlights

Extra Curricular Activities during afternoon recess

This term we are trialling doing some extra curricular activities during afternoon recess.

Monday – Green team (Environment/sustainability) with Mrs Bronish

Tuesday – 3-6 Dance squad with Mrs McQuillan

Thursday – Uno club with Mrs Coleman

Friday – Public Speaking club with Miss Punton and Miss Harrison

It has been a great start to the term and the groups have been well attended.

Here is the Green Team doing an investigation on how much rubbish is in our playground. We are now busy planning a ‘Clean up Schools Day’.

VOLUNTARY SCHOOL CONTRIBUTION FEE

All families in NSW Public Schools are asked to make a contribution to the ongoing costs associated in providing a quality education. Unlike some schools, Edgeworth Heights Public School does not have fees for books, technology or specialised teachers. It would be greatly appreciated if the fee/s could be paid by the end of Term 1. The 2023 school contribution fee is $45 per child or $90 per family.

Moving into Year 7 2024 Expression of Interest

Recently all of our Year 6 students received a Moving into Year 7 in a NSW Government school in 2024 Expression of Interest Form.

As of Monday 6th March the EOI process will also be available online. You will receive the link via Skoolbag as well as it being accessible on our school website.

For families who have returned their forms already you won't need to complete the online process.

Your child's permanent residential address determines which high school is your child's local school. After you submit an EOI and it has been assessed, your child will be offered a place at a high school.

If you are unsure whether they will be attending a NSW Government school (you’ve applied for a private school, or you are moving interstate), we ask that you still complete an EOI and follow up with your school once a decision has been made.

EHPS 2023 Swimming Carnival

Everyone had a great day and braved the heat. It was nice to get in the water and cool off.

A big thank you to:

  • Our parent helpers - Mr Wilcher, Mrs Gardiner and Mrs Zeitsch
  • The sports house captains and vice captains for leading your houses fiercely
  • The teachers who got in the pool to support the 25m races - without them we would not be able to run those events
  • All the parents who came to cheer on and support our school throughout the day

We can’t wait for next year!

Zone Swimming Carnival

WHAT A DAY FOR OUR ZONE SWIMMERS 🏊🏼‍♀️ 👏🏾 ⭐️

Well done to the 23 students that represented EHPS at the Zone Swimmimg Carnival. The day brought so many achievements. From placing within individual events, making it to Hunter Regionals and for some being their first time competing at this level of swimming. But what stood out the most for Mrs Dodds and Miss Carney was the sportsmanship that shone across the whole day. Every time someone was racing from EHPS, the rest of the students were right there to cheer them on, high 5 them when they got out of the pool or to wish them luck as they walked to the marshalling area. This is what EHPS is about. You should all be very proud of yourselves.

Congratulations to Blake W and Eli G for qualifying for the Regional swimming carnival. Good luck!

Zone and Hunter PSSA Trials

Zone and Hunter Trials

Basketball

This week Ryan H, Logan Z, Kobe S, Eli P and Louis C took part in the Zone Basketball trials. The boys were put through their paces with some drills and games to showcase their skills. The boys played well and represented the school with pride. Logan, Kobe, Eli and Louis were selected to go through to the Zone trials.

The Zone trials were held at the Maitland Basketball Federation Centre where approximately 70 boys attended the trials. Again the boys had to show their skills and all 4 boys made it through to the 2nd round of eliminations where there were 30-32 boys.

The group was then culled down to 15 boys and Louis was offered a position in the team as a reserve. Louis will attend training and hopefully have the opportunity to compete in the country championships in Tamworth in May.

All the boys represented Edgeworth Heights Public School with pride and great sportsmanship. Well done to all and congratulations to Louis on his selection.

Touch Football

Earlier in the Term Nate A, Noah M, Xavier D and Kyeemah J attended the Zone Touch Football trials. There were a lot of students at the trials and the competition for positions was very competitive. Eventually the players were selected to progress to the Hunter Touch Football trials and Kyeemah and Nate were successful in being selected for the girls and boys trials respectively. At these trials, Kyeemah and Nate played with great enthusiasm and displayed great skills and showed what they were capable of. They both should be proud of their efforts and congratulations on progressing so far in the trials.

Congratulations to all trialists who represented Edgeworth Heights Public School in a great manner.
