Luke Kennedy - Work Shop for Years 3,4,5 & 6 on Monday 12 August 2019

Author, Inspirational Speaker, Personal Development, Social Issues

For eight years of his life, Luke was an obese alcoholic and drug addicted thug. Leading a violent street fighting crew, he was stabbed on two separate occasions; once in the lung, the other time in the head. On the outside he looked strong and confident, on the inside his thoughts would come to haunt him. He was incredibly scared, depressed, anxious, and awkward in social situations. Luke always worried what other people thought about him which led to him committing some harsh acts and missing out on many positive opportunities. Becoming a successful business owner, mental health advocate, and one of Australia’s top motivational speakers, his purpose is to now use his experience to inspire, motivate, and enlighten others. To stop worrying what other people think. To develop personally & professionally. To shed the labels. To be free.

Next week we will be having Tacos and Apple Crumble.    Please ensure your orders and payment is in by Wednesday of each week to allow for catering.  Order Forms are sent home on Thursdays each week, so look out for them in your child's bag or order on the Skoolbag app (remembering to send the money  to school in an envelope). Thank you to those parents who have volunteered their time. A roster was sent home this week for helpers.  There are a few days that we still need helpers.  If you can spare a Friday to volunteer, please let the school know.  Thank you.

Small Schools Big Impact Concert - 28 August 2019

This Term Wooli public School will join the community of small schools in the Clarence Valley for the biennial SSBIC (Small Schools Big Impact Concert). The concert is a long standing tradition and allows students from small schools to showcase their talents on a grand stage in front of their family and friends. The school will be doing a performance to the song ‘Freaks’ by the artist ‘Timmy Trumpet’. This song has been chosen to align with the schools strong anti-bullying focus with the emphasis on celebrating difference. We have started rehearsals and permission notes have been sent home. Parents must  accompany children to the Saraton Theatre in Grafton on Wednesday 28th August by 5.30pm. Tickets are on sale now at the Saraton for $5 per person (including children) - flat fee.  (they are not available from the school). Students/families are responsible for  costumes. The costume just has to be different or unique. This could range from; the skeleton or zombie type look, gothic or punk. To something as simple as colourful clothing with teased up hair or a suit jacket and tie with board shorts. If you have any queries don’t hesitate to contact the school. Students must arrive at the Saraton in costume.

Below are some examples of costumes - Logan, Evie and Oscar’s costume when we did this for an end of year Presentation night.
