Dear Parents and Caregivers

Partners in Learning – Parent and Carer Survey:

We’ve had 83 community members complete our survey so far which is absolutely outstanding…however…our goal is to capture feedback from over 100 families!  Our survey closes at the end of this week, so please get to it if you haven’t already.  Your voice matters, so we encourage all parents and carers to invest 10 minutes of your time to give us your feedback by clicking the following link:

Congratulations Kindergarten:

2020 has been a very crazy year.  Given the disruption this year, Term 3 has been the first actual school term our Kindy students have been able to physically attend school full-time.  I wanted to take this opportunity to acknowledge this milestone.  It’s great watching our little one’s flourish and grow.

Executive Director Visit:

On Tuesday this week we were visited by Executive Director, Tim McCallum.  Tim spent time with Executive Staff and School Leaders learning about our school and our future aspirations.  He was then treated to some morning tea prepared from our kitchen garden and school canteen, before having a tour of the school to see learning in action.  You can see pictures of Tim’s visit further on in this newsletter.  Special thanks to H. Cutmore (Year 4) for his moving acknowledgement to country when welcoming our guests.

Year 3 and 5 Check-In Assessments:

The Department of Education have been trialling new assessment software to assist teachers with teaching and learning in the area of literacy and numeracy.  Year 5 students completed their check-in assessments earlier this term, giving teachers rich data and information about where students were at in their learning, and more importantly still, it gave teachers a strong sense of ‘where to next’ in learning for each individual student.  We look forward to engaging in the same level of planning and reflection when we get the data back from our Year 3 check-in assessments being completed this week.

2021 Class Structure:

The school currently runs a model of operation with 10 classes.  In 2021 we will be running with 11 classes.  This investment will mean each class from Year 1 through to Year 6 will have approximately 22 students.  Our Kindergarten cohort will also have relatively small numbers with two classes again being in operation in 2021, providing a strong start for our young learners beginning their schooling journey.  The concept of running a STEM class in both Stage 2 and Stage 3 continues to gain momentum, which is also another exciting development for our students and our school.

Happy Holidays:

On behalf of the school I’d like to wish all our students and their families well for the upcoming break.  I also extend my appreciation to our staff for their efforts across Term 3 and hope that our staff also have a well-deserved and enjoyable break.  Even though I’m looking forward to the holidays…I’m equally excited about ripping into learning and fun throughout Term 4.  Happy holidays.

Regards,

Brett Carr
