St Mary's Bulletin

Term 2 - Week 1 (3rd May, 2019)

From the Principal

Dear St Mary's School Community

Welcome Back

It was lovely to welcome the children back on Wednesday all looking very smart in their winter uniforms.  I hope that you all shared lovely holidays together.

May the Month of Mary

The Catholic Church traditionally devotes May as the month in which it celebrates Mary, Jesus' mother.  Teachers will be making a focus on this in the classrooms.  As a school, we will be praying the rosary together at the Monday morning assemblies in May, beginning this Monday.  All families are welcome to join us for this special prayer to Mary.

PD Days

The teachers started the term with two PD days.  On Monday, we delved into the CEWA Vision for Learning and how it relates to the work of Dr Lynn Sharratt (we are a part of the Literacy Collective).  On Tuesday, we revisited our Evangelisation Plan so that it can be re-written as it has expired.

ANZAC Day

We started Term Two with a lovely ANZAC Day Remembrance Service led by our Head Boy and Head Girl.  We prayed not only for the sacrifices made by the ANZACS but also for those servicemen and servicewomen who are still on active duty.

Mother’s Day Mass and Morning Tea

An invitation has gone out to all Mums, Grandma’s and significant females in the life of the children at St Mary’s to attend the Mother’s Day Mass and Morning Tea on Friday, 10 May.  Please rsvp via the Skoolbag app by Tuesday, 7 May.  I look forward to seeing all the special ladies in the St Mary’s community on this day.

Children’s Liturgy

Our first Children’s Liturgy for this term will be held on Sunday at the 10.30am Mass.  All children are welcome to attend.

Bush Play 2019

Bush Play is a well-loved program that occurs at St Mary’s School in Term Two and Term Three of each year.  Bush Play for 2019 will commence once we have some consistently cool weather and the bush area is checked over by our gardeners.  You will be notified when bush play will begin.

Dads at School

This initiative began in 2018 and was well received by the students and well supported by the dads.  Expressions of interest went out for the program to run again in 2019 at the end of last term.  It is unfortunate that there weren’t enough responses from dads for us to be able to effectively run this program this term.

Welcome

We welcome the Wolfenden family to St Mary’s School.  Karahlee has started in Year Four.

Congratulations

Congratulations to the O’Meagher Family (Logan – Year One and River – Kindy) on the arrival of their daughter and baby sister Freya.  Everyone is doing well.

P&F Meeting

Our first P&F Meeting for Term Two will be held in the Library on Monday, 6 May at 7.30am.  Please come along to support the P&F and the wonderful work that they do for our school community.

God Bless and have a lovely weekend with your families.
