It was absolutely fantastic to see excited and eager students head back to school this week. Even the inclement weather didn’t take the excitement out of the day.
Thank you to all the parents for helping the students ready themselves for school and the staff for setting up their classes ready for the students.
We especially welcome those new families that have joined our school and community.
There are a number of new staff this year including:
- Jamie-Lee Edwardes - Pre-primary (sharing the class with Ms Nat)
- Amy Murray – Music (1 Day a week)
- William Crawford – Year 6
- Lisa Goodall - Education Assistant in Room 3
- Amy Bolton Year 3/4 – for Term 1 whilst Mrs Fox is working at Millers Well PS in Karratha.
Mr Yorke’s Year 5 students have commenced their school year with their new furniture, working out of the library until a new transportable is provided for our growing school. We refer to this class as Room 12. This number will move with the class to the new transportable when it arrives.
Training begins this week for the Faction Athletics Carnival which will be held on Friday, 26th March. Years K-2 will be training on Wednesday mornings and the Year 3 – 6 students on Friday afternoons. To assist in the training, we are asking the students to wear their faction shirts and hats on these days to school.
We all look forward to this year’s carnival. It is always a highlight of our school calendar and enjoyed by students, parents and staff.
Thanks to Kristy McKinley who recently did a makeover of the girls and boys toilets which has been a long term project of the P&C. There are positive affirmations and art work which have now brightened up these areas. It really does look superb and promotes the positive culture of our school. The funding for this was given to the P&C by MuKau who over many years have donated money from gift-wrapping to the P&C.
During the summer months of terms 1 and 4 we ask students to wear school hats. Can I ask parents to please check with their child whether they still have a hat? There seems to be a significant number of students wanting to borrow hats from the front office staff. If children are not wearing a hat they must remain only in the undercover area during break times.
Our school assembly is now on every 2nd Friday at 9am, commencing this week.
Our front office staff will be checking with all parents over the coming weeks for those that have medical plans for their children. It is important if there are any changes to these plans or there are medications that need to be provided, that these are given to the front office staff.
Term 1 is a 9-week term and currently we are in week 2. School finishes this term on Thursday the 1st April, the day before the Easter holidays commence. Term 2 will be an 11-week term.
Kind regards
Peter Howse
Principal
