Ride to School (with Mr Forrest) Day
This Friday is national ride to school day. I encourage all students to ride, scoot or walk to school on Friday this week, the 19th of March to increase our collective daily exercise and get some fresh Macedon air. For those families who would like to ride to school with me, I will meet you down at Tony Clarke at 8:30am and will be riding up to school via Bruce Street, though the pines and then across Margaret Street to school. It would be best if your children come with an adult for safety and supervision purposes. I will need a number of parent helpers to ensure we are safely making our way to school along Bruce Street and crossing Margaret Street. If you can ride with us and are happy to help, please email me at email@example.com .
I would like to thank all of the parents nominated themselves to sit on the school council for the next two years. The newly elected school councillor as Sarah Turner, Ben English and Sam Evans. Our first meeting is this evening and I look forward to welcoming the newest members.
I would like to acknowledge and thank those parents who were nominated and were unsuccessful in the election process. We are in the favourable position where we have a committed and engaged parent group who are willing to volunteer for these roles. I am very grateful for that, I think it is evidence of our strong school community.
Late last year I wrote about the prospect of a private councillor working in the school to support children who may need the guidance to help them deal with anxiety, friendship issues, behaviour issues, grief or many other reasons. On our website, there is now a link to the information about the councillor, Heidi Winchester, who we have engaged. The information pack contains some background on Heidi and the steps that you need to take to start your child with the service. Please read the information in this pack and then see me if you have any questions, or need help to fill in any of the forms. It would be beneficial to meet with me so that we can complete the ‘Counselling Intake Form’ together.
If you are interested, the first step is to read the information and complete the intake and consent forms in this pack. Please see me if you have any questions, or need help with the forms.
The next step is to take your child to their GP, paediatrician or psychiatrist to discuss the problem. The doctor can then develop a mental health treatment plan which may involve visits to a mental health professional. The doctor also needs to provide a referral letter to this professional. The mental health treatment plan allows for your child to have up to 10 sessions with the mental health professional each calendar year, with the costs covered by Medicare.
