Newsletter Term 3 Week 5

From the Principal

Welcome

It was great to have Rachael Courtney back on site this week. Rachael has returned to work in the mornings for the first few weeks. She has really enjoyed visiting all the classes, seeing the friendly faces and catching up with the learning students have accomplished this term. I will remain on site as Co-Principal for the remainder of this term.

In week 3 the reception to year 5 students participated in swimming lessons at the Noarlunga Leisure Centre. Our students had so much fun, learning about water safety from the instructors at the pool. The students learnt many new skills such as breathing correctly whilst swimming, and practising saving each other with safety devices. However, the highlight of the week by far was the entire group dance off on the Friday. Students found this quite challenging in the water but lots of fun.

A friendly reminder that assembly is every second Tuesday in even weeks, beginning at 2:40pm. Families are encouraged to attend, however social distancing guidelines will need to be adhered to. We also require anyone watching to fill out the Covid-19 form before entering the assembly. These forms will be available at the gym entrance.

Regards,

Michael Sboro

SPORTS DAY NEWS

Unfortunately due to the current restrictions and requirements of COVID-19, families and the community are not permitted on site for Sports Day this year, to be held on Thursday 24 September. We will have nominated staff take many pictures and videos on the day to capture the moment of this year's Sports Day. We will endeavour to have a video / collage available for the community to watch at a later date.

Boyz Biz

This term we have The Smith Family running a program for boys after school on Wednesdays. The boys have been involved in some fantastic activities so far this term. They have made a balloon powered car, have had a martial arts lesson and put up a tent. I would like to thank The Smith Family and the volunteers for giving us the opportunity to have this program at our school.

I would like to welcome Annu and Azeezal to our school. Both Annu and Azeezal are studying social work at Flinders University. The students are helping in our breakfast club, spending time in the classrooms and getting to know our school community.
