Year 5/6 Class News

FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Assembly

Congratulations to the following students for receiving merit awards at our assembly last Thursday.

Merit certificates: Janrhys Apostol, Terrina Abiog, Rory Smith, Callum Lang and Tiasna Abiog.

Aussie of the Month: Tyler McCreery and Lachlan Stanley.

 

Thank you also to the CWA for providing us with a wonderful Cuppa for Cancer event. The cupcakes were delicious!

 

NAPLAN

Congratulations to all the year 3 and 5 students for completing their NAPLAN testing. Everyone worked very hard and I am confident results will show you have done your absolute best. Well done to you all.


Central Wheatbelt Winter Sports—Development Day

This Friday, 28th May 2021 all year 3-6 students are invited to attend this event in Bencubbin. Students will participate in activities to help develop skills in the sports of football, netball and hockey. Thank you to Mrs Helen Sutton and Mrs Jessica Matthews for helping to transport students to and from Bencubbin. If you have any questions regarding this excursion, please do not hesitate to let me know.

 

ILN Leadership Day

Today, the ILN are hosting a Leadership Day in Dowerin for identified students. This special event is designed to recognise and reward the leaders within our school from year 3-6. Corgratulations to the following students who were selected to attend, I am sure you will have a wonderful day.

Sophie Fuchsbichler, Olivia Brennan, Capri Matthews, Tarquin Stanley, Tyler McCreery, Clancy Cail, Tiasna Abiog, Kiara Johnson, Charlotte Stanley and Livinia Cail.

Thank you to Mrs Lisa Brennan and Mrs Sarah Johnson for supervising and transporting students to and from this event.

 

School Development Day

On Tuesday 8th June, we will be having our Term 2 School Development Day. All staff will be travelling to Wongan Hills on this day to participate in a variety of professional learning with other ILN Schools. So a reminder that students are not to attend school on this day, (enjoy the 4 day long weekend!)

 

Student Council Event

The 2021 Student Council would like to invite all students to participate in an afternoon of fun activities on Friday 25th June after school. The year 1-6 students are also invited to stay for a sleepover (if they wish.) The Student Council will be sending more details home regarding this event soon, so please for now add this date to your calendars.

Spare Parts Puppets Theatre incursion

On Thursday 3rd June, the Spare Parts Puppet Theatre will be here to perform ‘Beanstalk’ and do some puppet making workshops with the students. Koorda Primary School will also be travelling over to join us for the day.

 

Cross- Country

Our Annual Kalannie Primary School Cross-Country event will be held after the assembly on Tuesday 29th June at 2.00pm. Please let me know if you are able to assist with timing for this event.

Winter Carnival 21/5/21

Congratulations to all year 4-6 students who participated in the Winter Carnival at Moora last Friday. I have heard nothing but wonderful things about your amazing sportsmanship and that you all participated in games with enthusiasm. Also, a big thank you to Mrs Lisa Brennan and Mr Jordi McCreery for being our umpires, also to all the other parents who your assistance on the day.

Well done to Olivia Brennan who was awarded one the Sportsmanship awards, congratulations Olivia!

Healthy Breakfasts Ideas to Help your Kids Do Well in School

Why is breakfast important? Breakfast is the meal that fuels the beginning of the school day.  After a rejuvenating night of sleep, the brain and body need fuel to operate.  Studies have shown that kids who eat breakfast perform better academically than kids who don’t.

Can I please remind all parents that students are not permitted on school grounds until after 8.30am. If under exceptional circumstances you are required to drop students off early, please arrange this with me prior to the day.

 Absentees

Just a reminder to all parents to please inform the school as soon as possible of student absence. The preferred method for doing this is via the School App. Alternatively staff can be email or you can call the Office.

 School Board

 Headlice

We have had a couple of recent notifications of students with lice. Can all parents please regularly check children's hair and wash with appropriate treatments if lice or eggs are found.
