Dear Parents,
We find ourselves back in isolation and returning to Remote Learning.
We’ve done this before and we can do it again, I am confident we can continue to build upon the many successes experienced during the first round of remote learning and make this round even better.
I want to reassure you that we do not expect parents to be experts, or to sit down with their children for 5 solid hours a day. We simply ask you to “do what you can do”. We understand there will be good and bad days. It’s an opportunity for us all to show the resilience that St John’s is known for.
This will be a challenging period in our lives and we know that there will be a few ups and downs over the next 5 weeks. We are here to support you and provide positive experiences for every member of our school community.
In relation to onsite supervision during this time, our priority is the safety of our staff and students. As a direct reflection of this, we aim to minimise the number of students attending for onsite supervision. The fewer people we have moving about in our school, the less chance there is for any possible infection to spread. This creates a much safer environment for those who must be here. With this in mind, we are asking all families who have an alternate option for the supervision of their child(ren) to please consider using this.
On-Site Schooling responses via Care Monkey: The CareMonkey App is again being used for requesting on-site supervision, please ensure this is actioned as early as you can before the closing time of 12noon each Thursday.
It is very important that we have accurate information by this time to ensure that we can arrange the required level of supervision for the students we have onsite.
Parent Teacher Interviews: These were scheduled for the first week in August, however due to current circumstances will be postponed. We will inform you when a date becomes available.
Sacramental Programs: All sacramental programs and celebrations are on hold. We are keen to complete these programs by the end of the year and we will keep you informed.
Regards
Chris Dortmans, Principal
